With the commencement of Carrier Week last night, I expected to see a barrage of posts on last nights first installment?! Perhaps these programs are a repeat and most people have seen them, but last night's was new to me. I was flabergasted when the Tomcat blew an engine and went down while doing a supersonic flyby. They hadn't foreshadowed that happening at all (a rarity for modern tv). Other than that, I felt it had merits for a newly accepted SNA.
I had my packet sent out on 25 April and got the ok less than a week later (01 May) for a 08 March 03 OCS date. I fully expected it to take at least 4-6 weeks, so when my recruiter called me I thought for sure there had been a problem. Anyway, I signed and swore in that Friday on a rainy day in Hotlanta and made the announcement to my family at my graduation party the next Friday. It made for a truly exciting week, to sign a contract for $1+ million worth of training and get to graduate with FLY NAVY written in yellow across my graduation cap, priceless! I had so many comments from people that saw my FLY NAVY, it made me feel great to be going into such a respected and revered community.
Everybody, enjoy Carrier Week and ready or not, here I come...
