What are the living/sleeping conditions like on a carrier? How many guys do you share a room with? Is there any privacy?

More questions. What is the average time between going from port to port? Do you have to come back to the ship at the end of the night while your at a port or can you shack up with a ladyfriend in town? Other than the 6 month deployments, how often are you away from home on your first tour?

I'll let you know in about 2 months as I'll be reporting to the ABRAHAM LINCOLN shortly. Good question though that many people really don't know the answer to. I'll try to clear it up for you after I get there. Take care.

They're roughly 7 feet long. I don't know about the staterooms but in the berthings there is not enough headroom to pull your leg up.

The staterooms are usually bunk bed style racks and there is enough room to pull your leg up. The enlisted berthings are the ones where they are 3 racks high and the mattress are about 3 inches thick with no room to move around. The staterooms have single mattresses. If I am not mistaken the 4 man room Matt described has two of the bunk bed style racks in it. Top or bottom? You have to work that out!!!
