I use UHF with center to cut down on the chatter and then use VHF with approach and the airport to have better SA about who is around me.

I pressed the issue with my CoC, they said they will worry about it when I get there. Only catching last few months of deployment, so I guess I miss out on a det site or two at worst.Your squadron will almost certainly need you to have a passport. Last deployment, we had a couple of junior sailors that didn't have them and it was a pain in the ass. Not an option for a DH.

Those VP types are actually Whidbey types just on a semi-permanent det to Kbay. CPRW-2 is no longer a thing, which blows.

Seeing the VP-9 change of command in 2017, the relieved CO Cdr Regoli has been gifted with pretty nice small Orion model. Is that a tradition, i.e. each former MPRA skipper holds such beatiful little Orion on a table or bookshelf? If so - who produce these things? Looks much better than Hasegawa or Novo plastic-glued kit...
