Bumped in OCS?

exo

Hello,
I had a question that family members keep bringing up to me... how often does one gain acceptance in OCS for the ultimate program of say SNA and then get switched to a different program to no fault of the student?

Well, you could always be found to be NPQ (not physically qualified) at some point. That happens to a decent amount of SNAs who have to redesignate to NFO or something else (well, they don't have to, they could get out if they wanted).

But as far as you being accepted for a certain program and then just being told you're doing something else instead, that won't happen.

You're family's probably wondering how often the Navy will rope-a-dope you into applying for a pilot slot and then sending you to iraq as a marine. Doesn't work that way.

You will have a contract that states you are going to OCS as an SNA (pilot). The contract (which is the same for everyone) will tell you what happens if you fail OCS, flight school, NPQ etc.

There is no rope-adope.
