Ok, just curious if anyone has purchased the new brown boot authorized by NAVADMIN earlier this year? You like them? Comfortable?

Anyone planning on getting them? I have slowly been seeing them show up in other squadrons, only one person in my squadron has them.

Right now you can't purchase the dang things, since they are so backlogged, and aren't taking orders. Plus, they told me on the phone that they are redesigning the sole.

Yeah, it can be worn with either the green or desert flight suits.

I know most of the east coast fighter and strike fighter guys have the Redwing boots that are illegal but look really nice. If your gonna go, go in style. If that is the belleville boot then you are gonna have a problem getting them. Our squadron looked briefly as well but everyone wanted the Redwings. Good luck getting a pair.

Also tell your MCO (from a former MCO) that if he was good he would have gotten them already:D

LOL, no, first thing the command put out when they were authorized was that they were NOT going to "foot the bill". Of course, that was AFTER the MCO order a pair for the XO and CO! RHIP and all that jazz, though I think the bill for 60 officers would be steep, not to mention another 100 or so aircrew. Thankfully, I DO have a pair of belleville steel toed desert flight boots, those are impossible to get now-a-days, just as you mentioned. Going in style would be nice, but the whole issue of the Redwings not being authorized...

I love it, The CO and XO, "Do as I say not as I do.." Can't blame the MCO, just doing a good job of sucking up, plus the Skipper and XO say I want this, you do it. Yeah, I guess with about 160 total personnel needing boots that is a little step. The redwings are really expensive, but that are really comfortable and warm in winter. I have the insulated ones. Also I can't remember exactly but I think the redwing boots were not authorized for carrier use, I don't remember seeing anything about shore based. I would suspect that they are not allowed anywhere though. Heaven forbid the safety center would allow anything comfortable to wear being authorized. Good luck on finding and paying for your boots.

Hey John, I have these, and it only took about 3 or 4 weeks to get. They say they're backlogged, but if an individual gets them (I ordered two pair at the time), they do have them.
