Next thing you know PT will be optional, and there will be roomservice at Nimitz Hall
When I went through NSI in '96 (when men were men, and if you were a submariner the sheep were scared) we had to walk uphill to Nimitz hall both ways from the drill field or the galley.
The DI's actually yelled at us (imagine that?), and expected us to field day our rooms and make the floor shine, after they mashed us. Internet you ask? Ha. Civilian clothes? Ha, unless you were smart enough to bring a car and keep any you had in there. Civilian clothing liberty? Ha, lucky if they let us off base, and when they did, we were the invading KLA (khaki liberation army) on unsuspecting Newport.
Actually use the luandry room to do laundry? Fvck no! That's where the chub club got to do extra PT with the DI, you KNOW they loved the extra attention. A/C? You don't need no stinking A/C!!! It's friggin Newport in the SUMMER from chrissakes! Just open the window, and use your flash light to study after lights out.
I can't believe this post makes me feel this friggin old, god knows what it will do to poor EA6BFLYR who went through in what, '93 or something. Let me guess, you guys got Starbucks on the bottom deck now, right? Gotta love the new, gentler Navy.
And A4s, even though you didn't even post in this thread, gotta disagree with your signature line on this one!
"THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, the more they DON'T remain the same ......."
Excuse the ranting of a bitter deskbound pilot, jk, congrats to all of you who are on the path to getting your commission, have fun and take care of your shipmates.
