Dude, this point in your flight career should be spent living in a ridiculous condo on the beach and developing what some might call "a bit of a drinking problem." The fact that you got to the lovely Cradle of Naval Aviation and immediately set up a shop in a slum makes the rest of your advice a little suspect.
Armada is wise.

This blog should have a section labeled "comments from people who actually know WTF they're talking about..."

I read the first two posts and was immediately disinterested. You moved to Pcola and decided to live in a shit-hole to 'save money' for later. Are you F-ing kidding me?
Short answer: Get a condo on the beach (preferably near or in Perdido) and go out to Florabama and Seville and, as Gunny Highway would put it, "bang some quiff".

I'm actually hoping you keep posting this blog so you can look back on it and realize how you pissed away 2 years-ish of getting paid to fly and lay on the beach so you could "save money for later".

I'd give up the hating on Academy grads if I were you. I'd also give up the idea of buying some "overseas property" in the meantime. I can think of few things that would be a bigger pain in the ass to my lifestyle than worrying about paying for some vacation house that I will not ever get to visit. If you want to have any kind of life in the place that you actually live in, you will not have the money to be paying 2 mortgages as an ENS/LTJG/LT. As an O-3 in VA Beach, I take home 6k/mo......do the math. Also, I paid $500/mo rent when I lived in pcola (2k rent split 4 ways) and lived in a giant house out the back gate on Perdido with a pool and a tiki bar on the patio. It pays in many ways to not be a lone wolf in this business.

Stand by for MERCILESS punishment from your fello JOPAtriots once you hit the fleet. It's only fair that you suffer for documenting all your flight school jackassery on the internets for posterity. I'm sure it'll be really cool in 25 years to recall, but there'll be a price to pay in the short term. It's not that you'll write about ANYthing different than any other flight stud has thought/gone through, but making it public demands public embarassment at your first AOM/MESS meeting/Dining out etc. I've seen many take shit for far less than having a blog. Enjoy. :)

You should write a personal journal, something you can pass on to your kids-you know, some one who should give a shit. I know, I know, now days every one is a snowflake.

Honestly, there are only two kinds of people that will read that blog. 1) IPs you want to find out who you are and make fun of you or 2) Those who haven't been there and don't have any idea what the you're talking about. Either way, you won't have an audience for very long.

All right...there is a third. I forgot that everyone here was gonna make fun of you too.

This is just my $0.02: there are fewer things dumber for a brand-spanking new Ensign to do than broadcasting his thoughts to the ready room. Except maybe broadcasting it to the entirety of Naval Aviation, which you've now effectively done.

You don't yet have the experience or perspective to make your observations helpful to anyone. Neither are they entertaining, except by accident. If you want to keep Grandpa and Aunt Louise up to speed on your big adventure, there are more appropriate (i.e., private) ways to do it. If you really want to continue this blog, steel yourself for constant ball-busting for the duration of your Naval career.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly: nothing good comes of the instructors knowing who you are. Ever.

You should also probably just stop with the Academy hate. Also, did I read this right or are you belittling Academy "bros" because they got drunk and hooked up with a bachelorette party? You sound like a ton of fun and are probably "that guy."

I mean, I went to OCS and all, but that just sounds like a good time for ANYONE.
I mean, as an NROTC grad I enjoy the occasional, good natured Academy bashing as much as the next guy or gal, but there's a time and a place for it. Doing it on a public blog linked to a Naval Aviation forum is definitely not the place. 2 for headwork.
