Block 29...

Long story short, I was NJP'ed twice in a six month period over seven years ago and am currently working on my OCs package. I was wondering how far back the board looks when reviewing personnel records and if I should list them in block 29. I called the OCS information/questions number located on the OPNAV 1420.1B and the guy I spoke with said not to worry about it because it was over three years ago. Does anyone have any experience with this? I do not want to seem like I am hiding something but if it is not necessary I would prefer not to mention the incidents. I really want to put my best foot forward. Thanks for any advice.

I would address your past mis-steps in your motivational letter. Specifically how you learned from your mistakes and how you've overcome them and are ready to step up to the next level. I've known several officers that went to NJP as young enlisted sailors.....live, learn, and move on.

Good luck!
