Big Day

Just got back from pinning my wings on my daughter. The same wings that were pinned on me in Corpus 37 years ago. She then turned and formally comissioned my son as a 2Lt in the Marines.

My daughter gets winged, my son gets comissioned (with an air contract), my younger daughter is going to the most liberal university in California (and still has a sense of humor), I have more hair than my old squadron-mate (and still best friend), my dog's not pregnant, and my wife ignores me.

Man, life doesn't get much better than this.

:)

Big congratulations, what a great day!

You write a book on how you made that happen and I'll be first in line to buy it.:)

Congrats to both. Doesn't get much better than that. What watch did you end up going with?...

Congrats!

Which college...Mills??? I know you're not talking about Berkeley, my alma mater and home to the largest College Republican chapter in the country.

She didn't like my offer of a cheap Rolex knock-off, so I guess a college education will have to be sufficient.

What really irks her is the fact that I'm going to give my son an Omega Speedmaster pre-moon landing my best friend (and my son's godfather) bought in Hong Kong in 1971.

How cool is that? And what did she select??? (loaded question, but the world likely wonders, too)

PS - So are they on AW as well?

She didn't need to select. The Navy was kind enough to "select" for her. She was told she got what she got "because you're female". That was a quote from the StuCon LT.

She's on AW. I don't think my son's on. He's a Marine; we're not certain he's functionally literate.:icon_wink
