Best Khaki's?

Hello. Figured miscellaneous was the right place to ask. I am going to be made a Midshipmen in the NSCC in a few days. We have a supply officer that gives us our uniforms but I prefer to buy my own. Can you guys recommend a particular brand or type of Khaki's? Any preference amongst Creighton, Abbot or Flying Cross? Is the Poly/Wool better than CNT? Or maybe the Poly/Cotton one's are best. I'd appreciate any recommendations you guys can give me.

I just wear the permanent crease flying cross polywools I got through Abbotts with the rest of my stuff. The only ones that abbots makes themselves are the CNTs. The polywool, they just get from flying cross and charge you a premium for the same product.

Wear something that's comfortable. I chose the permacrease ones because I hate ironing and knew that once I got the bag, I'd never wear khakis. In aviation, if you wear your Khakis, it is for checking in, duty, or because "you fucked up", so unless you suck you won't be wearing them often from flight school and on.

The CNT's w/ permanent creases from Abbotts are nice. They have their own kind of CNT's which are more comfortable then the standard navy CNT, and the shirt pockets are Velcro instead of buttoned :D I would also say the chokers and SDB's from Abbotts are lovely as well :D

Actually, those are polywool (I don't think they make a CNT). Those are the ones they make themselves, and they don't have permanent creases (at least mine don't). They're nice, but I'm not sure they're that much nicer than the polywool ones you get from the NEX.

Personally, I hate the permanent creases because I think they look terrible. But once you get your flightsuits, you're almost never going to wear the khakis anyways.

Definitely agree about the chokers, but the Brooks Brothers SDBs are just as nice if not nicer.

To be fair, the OP was asking about khakis, not SDBs, or chokers or anything. If that is the case, then I wouldn't go to Abbotts for just khakis. If you're looking for chokers or SDBs, then it's a no brainer: GO ABBOTTS.

Flying Cross khaki shirts ??? They still make those ??? Then look no further ... if they're still "the same". :)

The cotton variant -- and I think they WERE a cotton-poly or sorts, just not too much "poly" -- those were OUTSTANDING after @ 10 washings -- super baby soft and they stayed that way ... no military press -- we're NOT Marines, you know. :D

Depending on your unit, they might require you to wear a certain kind. We actually wore straight up cotton for my first couple years (in Minnesota in the winter, so everything was wrinkly all the time) before they got smart and had us wear CNTs. I'd wait until you've started to make sure you're not wasting money.

Personally, I think poly-wool is WAY more comfortable than CNTs, and the sewn in creases look sharp in my opinion. Don't have a brand recommendation for ya, though, since I haven't cared enough to notice the difference.

I hope that's a joke, and that you do know who that is and from what film.

mr. brando ..apocalypse now...and yes... it was a joke, but i enjoy the Gene Hackman stunt double reference because I think Col. Kurtz is too much of a bad ass to be included in a joke.
