If you don't read the article thoroughly... it's just as valid as Saddam aquiring yellow cake in Niger.

Move along, nothing to see here.

This is why, Naval commission or not, I am wholeheartedly giving up my Canadian Citizenship. I'm tired of explaining where I spent the first 7 years of my life. I'm just gonna start lying.

Ya ya. Have your laughs. You and my AF friends. I don't know anything about Canada, its history or anything. I wish all it took was a hearty "fuck you" to a Canadian official to get rid of the citizenship, but alas it is a nightmare of paperwork. A nightmare I gladly go through.

Actually, no, I was a dual citizen with the Netherlands and the US when I enlisted (born over there, dad in AF) and all I had to do was say, under oath, that I denounce my Dutch citizenship and only claim US citizenship. I did that in front of my Chief and div-o, and it was for joining the nuke program. If that worked for that, something tells me you're getting the run around on your dealy-o.

For some strange reason, I'm thinking that Joboy and "path of least resistance" are two things that do not go together. :D

Well when I mentioned this to my OSO, he told me that I'd have to find renunciation paperwork and show them proof that I had done so. But with my being naturalized by being a minor when my parents were naturalized, this becomes a nightmare. Besides my US passport, I have no official "Citizenship documents" so applying for my Canadian citizenship renunciation becomes extrememly tedious and also when I report to OCS, I don't know if the US Passport will be good enough.

Personally I would be GREATLY relieved if I only had to swear allegiance to ONLY the US and denounce my Canadian Citizenship. If I could do this, please let me know where to go or who to talk to to find out.

Josh

EDIT: Realized that your situation is different since you were born abroad of US Citizens. I was Canadian born of Canadian parents who were naturalized when I was a minor

What's the basis for your Canadian citizenship? Were you born there/have a Canadian birth certificate?

Hitler somehow renounced his Austrian citizenship. I'm sure you'll figure something out.

Seriously, this sounds more like something you'd want to ask the nearest Canadian consulate.
