I'm sure we've got some Band of Brothers fans out there who have seen the DVD's and read the book. I really enjoyed the series, and am thinking about reading the book. Like most books-to-movie, is there much in the book worth reading that's left out, or does the mini-series cover most of it? Thanks.

The book is a great read, I own it. I really suggest you pick it up. Stephen Ambrose is a wonderful historic author.

In this case, the book and episodes are true compliments I believe. They both contain things the other left out. Read it, you won't be sorry.

Hey everybody, I saw yall mentioned Band of Brothers. I just got back from Margraten, which is where the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial is located. Apparently, several of the veterans from Easy Company were on a battlefield tour through Europe and had been at the cemetery on Monday. What was really neat was that they put sand from the beaches of Normandy on the letters of the tombstones of the soldiers from Easy Company that are buried there. It was a beautiful place, and a distinctive reminder of the sacrifices that those men and women paid during WWII. When I get back to my laptop I'll upload some of the pictures I took.

I borrowed the book from my OSO officer after watching the DVD's. It seemed to me that when they made the series they used everything from the book except for some background information and the book tells you more info on what the soldiers did after the war. I would suggest reading it and if you like Stephen Ambrose's style you should read his other book D-Day.
