BAH during OHARP

Darkwater

New Member
Hi everybody!

I graduated from OCS on 10/17 and started OHARP 3 days later.

I heard gouges about the bah during the OHARP.
Some people say there is no BAH at all but others saying there is *BAH RC/Transit rates for OHARPers. Some peer said they will back pay the transit bah to me but I’m about to check out the OHARP location and Lt in the office don’t know if my BAH will be transit or non partial

I just want to see if anyone has the same experience and if you receive any BAH during the OHARP.

Currently I received non partial BAH like $13.2 a month. Is that all for OHARP?

Thank you

What kind of orders are you on? Are you executing PCS orders with OHARP as an I-Stop, or TDY? Usually OHARP is done on a no-cost TDY basis, so in that case you aren't eligible for TDY per diem or BAH. There may be a stipend, but it's not the full TDY per diem rate.

It’s a TDY, thank you for the info
Read your orders. They will specify "no cost" or "permissive" TDY. You will operate under these kinds of orders occasionally during your career - PCS house hunting is one such case. While it's a bit arcane, do yourself a favor and get smart on this subject, as it will come up frequently for you and your Sailors.

Way done with Oharp, but I remember getting some type of BAH.

But how does the Navy expect you to pay for housing for time on Oharp? They are not providing housing, you aren't getting per diem money for a hotel, if you were doing a no cost TDY that would be your choice (I don't remember Oharp being optional) and I would understand that, you would get BAH at your duty location, it wouldnt get turned off during a no-cost TDY.

To be honest, All I know is the OHARP is around my hometown so I’m currently stay with my family. I can’t really distinguish facts and gouge now.
The OHARP is voluntary non government cost so I guess maybe that is it.

OHARP is voluntary. If you don't have a place to stay in your hometown, then you probably shouldn't do OHARP. No different than any other no cost TDY. If he just left OCS, he doesn't have a duty station and isn't drawing BAH yet, and likely in transit to his next training location.
