He'll dazzle you with terms like "Code Red."
I graduate from college in June and I'm applying for Marine OCC 184 (the October class), which means I have about 3 months from mid-June to mid-September in which I need to find some sort of job. I'd like to find a job where I could learn more about aviation before I start OCS, although I have no experience in the field to speak of. I do have a 3.5 GPA with a solid math, physics, and chemistry background, however. What might I be able to do that's aviation-related in the Long Island or NYC area? I'd really appreciate any suggestions that would just give me a good startng point.

If money is not a problem you might get a flight line job gassing airplanes. Often times you can bum a few rides and make friends with people with airplanes.

if there is a smaller airport around your area, then you might be able to work for a smaller company or even a flight school.

i have a few friends that work for a refueling company at the small local airport, they love it. You learn a lot about the airport as well as the planes. When your at the airport almost everyday on the runways and taxiways, I would think that you'd get used to the whole aviation life. Plus you get to drive around in a gulf cart all day!

I am a security screener at SFO airport, until my OCS date (Aug. 16th). its a fun job, good pay and you get to talk to alot of the airline pilots whom most are former military. Its a good experience to learn about how an airport operates, especially if your thinking of going commercial after the military. If interested, i think the federal gov. has a website somewhere to learn more or you can stop by the nearest airport for more info.

you could also try being a thrower ("baggage handler"). I did this for a couple of summers. you got to get use to the smell of A1 though.
