Aviation Formula, still accurate in 2024?

Asapla

SNA at NASC
Saw this on one the threads, is this still accurate? Thank you in advanced!

For NROTC service selection:

Commissioning Score:
GPA (out of 4.0) – 45%
Aptitude (out of 5.0) – 35%
Major (Engr=100, Tech=85, Lib Arts=75) – 10%
CO’s Points – 10%

Aviation Score:
Total Commissioning Score from above – 60%
AQR (out of 9) – 15%
PFAR (Pilots) or FOFAR (NFO) (out of 9) – 25%

(ASTB Min: Pilot – AQR 3, PFAR 4 / NFO – AQR 3, FOFAR 4)

Now to explain all that. The commissioning score is used to rank EVERYONE seeking a commission. It’s really just to see who will be commissioned. The aviation score is used to rank everyone going aviation.

Being that you're an NROTC guy, I suggest you talk to your aviation advisor to learn more about SNA/SNFO service selection.

I mean this respectfully, but what is the point of responding to threads with questions if you’re just going to say “ask your advisor” or “use the search function”? People in ROTC ask these questions because they can’t get the answers reading gouge or by using their available resources, isn’t the whole point of an online forum to have active discussion?

Lighten up Francis. Being that the OP never responded back, it’s possible they were able to find the answer using their own resources

On another note, did @taxexperts31582 have you create an account just to say this?

Haha no, but thanks for the support taxexperts!

I must too young to understand the Francis reference! I will look it up.

But I think it’s more possible that he didn’t respond back because he felt this forum didn’t want to help him.. I really like reading this forum but I never ask questions about ROTC that I can’t get from my advisor or find via the search engine because they normally get shut down, directing the poster to the aforementioned resources.

How do you even know that was the case for the OP? While I can’t speak for every aviation class instructor, I’m sure most are approachable and will provide any guidance and information that is available or releasable to Mids. It is their job in the first place.

Totally ridiculous on your end with a thread revival and trying to make a top rope approach.

Relax man. He's just trying to get more info.

NSTC hasn't published a formula for 10+ years. From what I've heard, that formula is what the new method is loosely based off. For the most part, you control your own destiny. I service assigned in October. From my unit in the past 4 years, everyone with 777 or better has gotten their first choice, some NFO some pilot. Anything lower than that, you're rolling dice.

If you worked in HR in a real company, you'd be fired immediately for some of the things that you post in threads like these. Stop being so adversarial.

Agreed, slow your role, Guru.

I'd with hold that comment until dealing with HR in a real company. It can be a truly perplexing experience leaving you to wonder how any of those people keep their jobs.
