I'm being told by Austin Wood apartments in Pcola that there's a 2 to 3 month waitlist. For those of you who have experience with this complex, are their waitlist times pretty accurate? Did you get in sooner, on time or later than what they said?

I left Pcola in Dec and lived in Fairfield Lakes and they had a similar waiting list there. They had people slated to move into my apartment the Monday after I left (I left on Sat). I would imagine its probably pretty accurate, but sometimes its luck of the draw. That being said, don't just go for one apt complex, definitely look around before you settle on one. When I was looking at places to live I checked out Austin Woods and they only had 1 2br unit open, this was in Jun 04.

I lived at fairfield lakes as well, i looked into austinwood and I got on the waiting list and never got a call back. However I just left Pensacola at the end of feb. and the housing backlog is pretty big everywhere.
There is a new complex being built off of blue angel right near the Pine Forest, Blue Angel Parkway Intersection. It looked really nice.

That one that litre referred to does look nice, only problem is you have to drive on BLue Angel to get to base. The traffic on that road is bad at certain times of day. Nothing is too far from base, and don't just think about places close to base. The drive isn't too terrible, and you might rather be closer to attractions/things to do as well. Just something to think of.

Ok, good advice. Does anyone know the name of the new complex being built? I figure I'll check it out among many other options...

I should know the name of it, i drove by it enough times, try one of the online apartment guides. If the complex is not listed anywhere the base housing office should know or the Chamber of Commerce should know. Blue angel can get a bit congested but usually your husband will be driving to work early enough when traffic won't be too much of a factor, also it is a straight shot in to the back gate of NAS (the back gate is closer to training wing 6 than the front gate).
