Astb

I understand that the ASTB is an extremely important component of the BDCP selection process, however I was just wondering how much weight it carries vis a vis the other portions of the package. I have a very good PRT, my Cum GPA is a 3.9 at the University of Miami, and an immense amount of leadership in extracarriculars and college sport. The porblem is I absolutely suck at taking standardized tests and I am taking my first ASTB this Tuesday. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Yeah I have been studying all of the gouges and the Arco book. My question was how much weight does the test carry compared to your entire package?

If you are able to get a good GPA in college then getting a decent ASTB score shouldn't be too hard (that is mindset I had when I took it).

Also everyone who has applied or has been accepted has do the same thing you and probably everyone of them was at a little nervous before they took it (I know I was).

Concur.
With a stellar GPA like a 3.9, you obviously have some serious time management skills and some intense study habits. Just put these to use preparing for the ASTB and you should score well.

I was told that the ASTB carries a little less weight for BDCP'ers than it does for pure OCS guys... Or so my recruiter says... Either way you should do just fine with a GPA like that.

Sweep the leg..

I'm guessing that BDCP shows signs of commitment
in someone, considering that you're already going
through all the necessary steps into becoming commissioned.
Although theoretically, it shouldn't matter..but biases
occasionally take precedence in some situations.

If I had to guess, it is because a BDCP applicant is still current and fresh within an academic mindset and environment. A regular OCS applicant may not have had a college course in years, so they feel they need to be tested with more bias.
