I took the ASTB yesterday (29 APRIL, 2025) and scored 6/8/6. Unfortunately for me I am enlisted currently so it’s not immediately selection
. I on the fence about taking it again because the deadline for sta-21 only allows me to take it one more time before my package is due and I don’t my score to lower.
After two weeks of studying that was my score and here is some info about the test
I studied algebra and trig and the test gave me only geometry which I sucked at and got times out of the test…
For the mechanical and PBM I used the ASTB test prep app on the App Store and it helped a ton.
Mechanical- I was only asked a few questions that required calculations. If 10n are pushed 10ft how much work is done kind of questions. The rest was simple elementary level questions ie. which block is heavier..
PBM the terrain identification was super easy as well as the uav portion. I believe I was below 2 seconds for all my uav answers.
Stick and throttle- wayyy easier on the test than in the app. The app judges how much time on target you have and the test goes by how close you stay to the target. If you can hit the milestones in the app you will have no issue on the test. Also the crosshairs on the app move slow and on the test they are way faster so you can catch up and change direction to follow the target so much easier.
I only studied math in the app and it shows. I will be doing many practice test in the future to prepare better
Feel free to ask specific questions.
