Adjohns - No need to make two separate posts about this. People will see it.
Secondly to all you guys, the reason why no one really answers is because every week we got about 10+ new people here at AW who ask "What are my chances if (insert ASTB score, GPA, or possible problem here)"
The answer is.....no one knows. Seriously I probably answer the same question almost 3-4x a week. Do some legwork and look around on this forum and compare your score to the scores of those who have been Professionally Recommended (Pro Rec'd) and Final Selected. Look at all the threads for the different boards (May, June, July, August, September 2009) and compare your stats with others.
No one here can give you an account of how good you will do at boards. The reality is that there have been people who have gotten 45 and below on the ASTB and still gotten in and those who have scored high who have gotten in too. BUT there have also been those with really high scores, high gpas, and other things that make them seem "awesome" and they get non-selected by the board.
The boards look at the 'whole person' concept and the ASTB is only a portion of that. Make sure the rest of your package is on point (LORs, Moto statement, etc. - things you can control). Also get in good with your OR as they DO write up a description of you and whether you would make a good candidate to be an officer or not as well.
As I said, DO SOME RESEARCH and use the Search button. Look up the August 2009 Boards thread and check those out, as those were the most recent boards to convene. I was a selectee in that board and I had a 62 6/6/6...so there ya go. You'll find peeps with scores all over the board with different outcomes. Good luck to you guys and if you do have any other questions, after searching extensively, let us know.
