ASTB computer lag?

I took the ASTB the other day and was relatively satisfied with my results given a short lead time and computer lag on the testing machine.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced some serious computer lag on the testing machine as well? I'm not sure if it was the (old) computer, the Internet connection, or a combination of both, but I experienced some rather serious lag during the test when I chose my answers and when I advanced to the next question. It was problematic especially on the math section because it was the first section and I was learning to deal with the lag - it probably ate up a couple minutes of the 25 allotted minutes. Basically, it just acted like an old computer that had to refresh every time you did any kind of operation.

I'm satisfied with my score at this time, so I'm going to submit the app package and see what happens. But in the event I will take it again, I'd like to know if taking the ASTB on an old, misbehaving computer is what I'll generally be faced with, or if some recruiters might actually have a newer one that works well? Any experiences worth noting?

I took mine on an older computer. It wasn't super fast responding to questions, but totally usable. Similar to most computer based trainers I've used in the Navy thus far. If you're down to the wire on time that's probably not a good sign.

I got seriously bogged down in spatial apperception. We had to reboot the computer, and I lost a good 5 minutes. I think I finished the section. It also lost about a minute (cumulatively) in the math section, as I recall.

It was an older computer.

Glad to see we've got a genius down at NAS Pensacola. Excellent job at reading between the lines. Did your arrogance make it easier to do so? Or maybe you missed the point entirely: I did well despite working on a malfunctioning computer (and having only a week to prepare while I'm writing my Master's thesis.) Thanks for responding, though, asshole.

I think you've got quite a future here, amigo. Knowing the art of diplomacy will take you far in this profession.

You're trying to get in and talking like this to a Naval Officer? Wow. Keep it up. You'll do great in the Navy and on these forums.

If you did fine "despite your challenges" (wah!) then why even bring it up?

BobLardeaux... wash the sand out of your crusty vagina and continue writing your thesis on how to act like a 14 year old girl on her period...

BobLardeaux - I'm also finishing my thesis and had a similar problem with the testing computer. Not only did mine lag mine but it crashed six times and we had to restart the test. I did worse than when I first took it but it wasn't that bad. My recruiter agreed that a retake would only make sense if I was a non-select for October. It is what it is and I learned to be prepared regardless of the circumstance or the result.

SynixMan is a good fellow here with a good rep and I see his quote as more of an encouragement rather than belittling. If you are trying to get some feedback don't think out loud on the thread bashing those who provide you with valuable information.

I took the ASTB yesterday... I had to adjust working w. the computer+lag too. I ran out of time on the math section. (I didn't know how the timer worked) I adjusted and finished the others with time to spare.
