This forum has pretty much come to a stand still lately. Which implies that there isn't really a whole lot going on BDCP wise right now. Maybe this is in part to the new fiscal year.

Post the status of any of your applications here, and personal stats if you can. Also any gouge from any recruiters would be cool. If any of you are waiting to be rec'd or selected, let us know. I know that the supply board is meeting anywhere from the 7th to the 9th and rumor has it that the NFO, SNA is meeting in the middle of the month. Hopefully we will all be hearing news sometime around then.

Supply Corps - BDCP 2007
I was Pro' Rec'd for BDCP Supply soemtime in October. FINDOCS have been in for a month and heard back about a page missing an intialing so I had to take care of that and send it back. It was been reviewed last week and so my recruiter is saying I should get final word back this week. It's been a long road. I started with the procces in March.

CS Major
3.37 Overall GPA
52 OAR
Some stuff outside school, student gov, honors program.
3 great LORS, former AF, HS coach (known litterally forever), Honors Program lady.
I was a solid athlete in HS and my bro is an ensign right now.
The part that helped me the most I think was my personal statement, nothing could have helped me more then what I wrote in that.

As some advice I recommend you write truthfully and get many people to read it. Don't be common and tell them what you can offer the Navy.

I am sending my application in sometime this week, so hopefully it will be reviewed in the November boards. I began my process last January by taking the ASTB

I have a 48 OAR and 4's (Moderately worried about that score!)
I am a History and English Major
3.19 GPA
Current Junior Class President, tutoring, and study abroad next semester (hopefully)
My LOR are from a Rear Admiral retired, a retired USMC officer who I worked with at the USMC museum this past summer for my internship, and my history and politics professor, all of whom know me really well.

I wanted to submit my app in May, but needed to lose 20lbs first...so ditto on that. Most of my family is military, and my cousin is currently a SWO out in San Diego (she did NROTC). I don't remember what I put in my personal statement. I am hoping to get pro-rec for Intel or SWO. I also have NFO on there...I know I still need to work on my running and pushups and situps for a potential PT test.

I am also trying to send in my package sometime this week. This will be my second time, I was rejected Nov '03 for BDCP. This time with no BDCP, just Pilot directly.

63 OAR, 8,9,8
Computer Science major graduate in Jun '05
3.10 GPA
All-American Athlete
A moderate amount of leadership.
I have LORs from CO of P-3 Squadron, retired A-6 Pilot, current P-3 NFO, college coach.
Oh and I have 1.2 flight hours. :tongue2_1

I hope to get it in this week. My recruiter retired last week, so I am working with someone new, so they have to do the whole office change thing.
I agree with the importance of the personal statement. I took all summer to write it, had many people look at it, even took it to my college writing center, twice. Hopefully it impresses them.

BDCP SNA 2007
I was pro-rec in Sept sent in my Findocs at the end of Sept. heard back that at MEPS they forgot to give me a depth perception test so I had to go get that done and then heard back about 2 weeks ago that I was missing a phone number on my EPSQ. My recruiter said I should hear something in a week or two.

Hopefully Future SNA
That’s really good to hear that you got pro-recd, because I talked to an officer recruiter at the Jacksonville air show and he said pilot slots through like 06 were closed, but I didn’t really believe him, he was really pushing supply so that made me a little weary.

Maybe you guys can humor me for a bit. At what point are you notified of being pro-rec'd, and does it really mean anything? I mean, I don't remember ever getting a phone call sayinig I was pro-recced, just a call saying "Good news, come down and fill out the rest of the paperwork"

Good luck to all!

Sub Nuke's Wife
I am sending my application in next week after an interview with an Intel officer.
OAR 53 and 6s
Undergraduate GPA in Neurophysiology and Art History 3.1
MA in Islamic Art History 3.9
Doctoral work in Islamic Art History 3.97
Speak five languages
LORs from three professors [one was in the army] and one employer

But I am not at all optimistic. Everyone I heard get chosen either had much more to offer than I did in everything listed above, or had really technical majors. It doesn't help that I am horrible at standardized tests.

Mark, you have been mislead. I had an officer recruiter at that same airshow(the guy was a real jerk in my opinion) tell me that I had a slim to none chance of getting selected. The guy was a real fruit loop in my opinion. I talked to my officer recruiter afterwards and he told me that the guy didn't know what he was talking about. Don't listen to guys that are trying to sell you on something and try despite bad news.

I've been playing the waiting game like everyone else on this thing too. Sent in my apps nearly a month ago, and I've heard nothing yet. Maybe in a few more weeks.

Started talking with my recruiter around January. Took the test in May and got a 56, 7, 8, 7. Got a ton of LORs just coz I've had like a ton of jobs over the past three years and they want all of 'em. That took the longest to do, gettin' all them letters in. They include 2 CEOs and an admiral. I have a 2.42 for my BS (electrical engineering), which is probably my biggest concern. I guess I partied it up too much in college. Fixin' to take some night classes at some local JC to boost my GPA. Anyone know of some easy courses?

Like erinbynight, I need to get back on the fitness thing and lose a good 20 lbs too. Anyone who knows the life of an engineering student knows that nerds never workout. And if I'd known it would be this crazy I woulda gone ROTC. Waiting sucks.

I'm applying for an NFO slot, and SWO is on there too. My measurements told them my BKL is 0.9" too short to apply for SNA. I got even more bummed watching the Angels fly at the Miramar airshow. I'd give my left nut for an extra inch on my femurs and a chance to fly up there like that. Sad.

Damn, I wish they'd tell me already.

Well, the wait will be over for you soon enough rest assured. My recruiter told me that no news is good news. There is nothing you can do about it, it is out of your hands. I am curious about your GPA though. It was my understanding that a 2.75 or 2.85 cumulative GPA is required for a BDCP applicant. Evidently this cannot be correct or else your officer recruiter would not have submitted your package. Nonetheless, electrical engineering is no joke, perhaps there is an exception.

I wouldn't get to bent out of shape taking easy night classes for a few reasons. First of all, the boards look at the classes you do well in and don't do well in. You could increase your GPA up to a 3.6 by getting 5 solid A's, but if those 5 classes were underwater basketweaving, interior decorating, pottery, communications, and finger painting, the boards won't care. Basically, to them, a C in Applied Engineering mathematics is equal to an 3 A's in liberal arts crap.

The LOR from the admiral might just be your meal ticket. Is he a rear adm, vice, or really a 4 star? Let's just say that your chances of getting selected for BDCP probably increase exponentially and are directly proportional to the number of stars we are talking about here.

In any case, good luck man.

That's what I am banking on! I have done well in all my tech classes (Physics and History double major), but average in my history classes. My cumlative is about where caspertap's is and I have also worked full time through school. But I won't be able to apply until this time next year, because of the PRK stabalization period and in the mean time I am going to boost my GPA.

Be sure that the boards know that you were working full time during college and what not. This can be accomplished by having one of your LOR authors mention it, or talking to your officer recruiter about mentioning it during your summary. A full curriculum demonstrating ambitious character traits can work wonders on a low GPA.

You bet I will, I am getting LORs from my store's co-manager, my assistant manager, my previous boss, in addition to two profs, a ret. AF colonel, and city mayor (who runs our airshow, which I have over a 130 hrs volunteer time in as hotel coordinator and go-fer).

I received an email from my recruiter saying I was pro-rec'd. I had already started working on my FINDOCS at that point, though - I had done MEPS and been preparing my SF-86 (EPSQ worksheet).
