Hey Everyone -- I was just wanted to see if this info was still correct... last year our XO said the NFO's were in demand. This year though not much info has come out about that. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is still correct for this up comming service selection? Thanks alot.
 
Yes, the Navy usually does not meet it's yearly NFO quota, or falls slightly short....But this isn't as bad as them falling short for the NUKE pipeline.....

Pffft. Even when the Navy "needs" people, what the Navy actually does depends a lot on the allignment of Jupter and Saturn. If you want to know your chances of getting something at service selection, ask Ms. Cleo. She is the most reliable source of info...

Seriously, though - don't worry about the rumors and the hype. Oddly enough, the path open to you depends a lot on the "needs of the Navy" (read: it is all about timing). But - it is harder for them to say 'no' to a strong candidate at any time, so work hard and do the best you can to make sure you're in a good position to ask for what you want.

That being said, though, you don't often hear huge fluctuations in the NFO community intake / size like you do for pilots, so you can take some comfort from my post ;)
