Any Glock model 35 owners?

Tex_Hill

Airborne All the Way!!!
Hi guys,

I have an opportunity to purchased a used Glock model 35 (.40 S&W) and wanted to know if anyone here had any experience with this particular weapon?

I haven't fired it yet, but from what I've read it should have the muzzle feel comparable to that of the 1911 which I have fired before & really liked.

Thanks,

Tex

If it's like most Glocks, the grip angle sucks!

I shoot IDPA and USPA with a Glock 23 and a 1911. The eloquent assessment of "the grip angle sucks" is subjective from user to user. Do your research, plenty of sites on the internet and get some reviews and discussions from people who sound like-minded as you.

I have no problem with my mid-sized 23 (.40 S&W), it's shot over 3,000 rounds with no failure to feeds (or other...) and has been dead accurate out of the box. Easily grouping w/in 2 inches at 25 yards. My 1911, with a longer barrel, is not so accurate and to date has had 11 failure to feeds (the majority being round out of battery) with close to 3,500 rounds through it. I appreciate and enjoy them both though for two completely different reasons.

Thanks for the constructive info mb1k. I would think that this model would be extremely accurate as well since it's a competition shooter.

You mentioned the IDPA in your post, what do you like & dislike about it? Up until now I've only owned long guns, and the IDPA sounds like it would benefit my pistol shooting.

Combating TIP training AGAIN?!
What is the purpose of the recess right behind the front sight? Is that a compensator?

Compensated or ported??

@ 10-15 years ago, "ported" semi-autos were becoming the newest rage in "designer" pistols -- I bit and tried one. Never again. I used it -- Glock-19 -- in a training course (tactical Fun House) and between the gas/powder blow-back and flash -- never again.

With all that slide and w/ a .40 S&W -- I would not think it necessary.

The Glock 34/35 come with a cut out behnd the front sight to lighten the gun a bit.

I have a G34 I sue for IDPA and like the grip angle. I shoot it pretty well. Same cut out, not compensated.

I also have a G23C that has compensation...different cut outs completely.

The G34 non-compensated.

I'll take your word for it Schnugg since I haven't had a chance to handle it yet and just assumed it was a port - as corrected by A4s. What's your opinion of the IDPA?

IDPA is fun, some good training, some gamesmanship, some shooting.

I enjoy it as we have a real active gang of shooters. I'm a Safety Officer which is fun to be the guy up next to the shooter all the time.

Schnugg,

Where do you shoot IDPA? Not like I need another shooting game with hi-power silhouette but I have a .45 that I could use more trigger time with.

I'm a member of AAFGA. You don't have to be a member to shoot IDPA there though. We have one guy who drives in from Fairfax, VA who shoots with us. Also a couple who leave their guns in VA and pick them up to shoot with us...they live in DC. She's a COL, he's retired USMC.

We charge $10 for a Saturday shoot of 5 or 6 stages, $5 if you SO it.

The Glock 34 and 35 were designed for competition out of the box - and at my club, in USPSA shooting, they are a favorite. The slide is cut out on top saving weight.

For Steel Challenge or USPSA/IPSC this is a great gun..

Of course S&W just released a 5 inch competition of the M&P pistol - it will go right up against the Glock 34:
