Anatomy of an F/A-18 Soundtrack

Just watched the popular Military/Discovery channel show and noticed that Brendan Canty composed the soundtrack. He is also the drummer for Fugazi, a fantastic band from DC (with members of 80's hardcore icons Minor Threat and Rites of Spring) . He also did the soundtrack to the show, Making Marines. Kinda found it ironic that he does so much military documentary work, considering Fugazi is a VERY liberal (almost disgustingly so) band with a even MORE liberal following...

Anyway, I'm guessing most of you don't even care... I'm just bored and feelin' like a post. :) :sleep_125

I remember seeing Fugazi in DC when I was in high school....they refused to charge anyone over $5..... Repeater and 13songs are both on the ipod.

13 songs.... ahh, a classic. "I am a patient boy...I WAIT I WAIT I WAIT I WAIT!"

On my x/c to Key West in Primary, the house band at some bar started playing that (along w/ some Ramones and Misfits). We went nuts! I looked to my left, and my IP was singing the lyrics! Who knew he was into cool music?

Anyone else here into music? Esp folks stationed in K-rock?

A truly puzzling statement. You do realize these are the same people you'll be working with in the fleet, same as you? You weren't one of those people who, when 18, thought 25 was truly geriatric, were you?

Guys seem to not realize it, but your average JO instructor is only 4-5 years older than the students they fly with. Hell there are some students here (myself included) that are older than most of the IPs they fly with.

Come on man, didn't we all? Good thing I still look 25...

No me. I always thought 25 was the perfect age. Old enough to drink legally, young enough to still date 20 year-olds. Oh, and something about renting cars easier.

Perhaps because those bands were out when he was in high school and you were in the 4th grade with Star Wars posters over your bed.

It might not be the age thing that is so surprising. The political views and subcultures that are associated w/ these bands don't scream U.S. military when I think about them. Either way, cool to see that there are other folks who are into music here. I was a big Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Black Flag, and Social D. (nice avatar zab) fan growing up....got more into some of the NYC straight-edge hardcore stuff after that. Now I mostly listen to more mellow bands....keeps me from losing my mind while driving amongst the world's worst drivers here in Oregon.

Actually, we were both the same age (well, he was 31, I was 30). The point was not the age thing, but rather the fact that in my 9+ yrs in the Navy, I haven't met too many folks into punk rock. Especailly o-gangers...

Obviously we exist, but in what numbers???
