"Nothing wrong with the airplane" ...

Maybe it's pilot error, maybe it's not. But it ALWAYS comes drifting back to "pilot error" as the human factor inexorably moves up the list of probable cause(s) when they don't know what else to pin it on, doesn't it?? Same ol' song, different verse.
It's been the favorite tune of airline companies and aircraft manufacturers since the dawn of commercial flight. Always has been, always will be ...

At lea$t it help$ "them" with the impending lawsuit$.

I remember a professor in Naval Safety School saying how easy it is, and how often "they" try to hang the pilot for a 'mishap', regardless of circumstances.

He also gave a wonderful counter, saying it could be pilot screening, pilot training, pilot supervision, etc., or a pilot encountering a situation that no reasonable pilot could escape. But that is a tough argument when high priced lawyers smell blood$$$$$.
