BattleChinook?

Chinookpilot73?

God's Chinariot? Chinookariot? (Chinariot looks too much like China riot.)

So many possibilities!

Reader comments on news websites are, if nothing else, entertaining.

I've done LLs through DC (and Baltimore), NYC, Philly, and Boston. DC and NYC are the best.

Uh oh. Better not let your other HSC doods see picture 1010108. Maybe you just got in the wrong helo that day.

Almost 4000 of them in the Phrog. Plus, he's an EMS pilot in the civilian world... He's clocking in at close to 10K hours mil + civ.

Nice. Reminds me of one of the gents from -401 that flew red air for a weekend ccx I was on. Of all things a reservist F-5/former F-18 guy could be doing, the guy flies rotary wing EMS out of NY. Pretty cool choice if you ask me.

-401 also has a dude (same background) flying choppers for Customs.

Best part? Once we cross the Wilson bridge, we HAVE to remain 200 feet and below... :D

My very last flight in a Phrog terminated at NYG after running the DC helo routes. Hell of a way to go out.

I'll take LA over DC any day of the week, though. There is nothing cooler than flying the Harbor Freeway northbound through Downtown. Just prior to where it intersects with the Hollywood Freeway (north of the Staples Center), you fly between the Arco Towers and Earnest & Young Plaza. It's pretty sweet to see office workers at their windows looking down at you as you fly by.

Of course, being cleared through the Disneyland TFR is also a good time.

Sat, Dec 10th 2011. 1200 local, three CH-46E's launch from NAS Norfolk, VA in order to properly bid farewell to a man who has served the Marine Corps and this country for 29 years. 29 years. 6000 hours. Semper Fi HoHo, it was an honor to have served with you.

These are some really great photos! And what a beautiful day you had for flying!

The picture of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge made me kind of break out in a cold sweat though.:) I lived in Upper Marlboro and had to cross the Woody twice a day going to and from my office located on Quaker Lane. This was back when the bridge had only three lanes in each direction with virtually no shoulder lanes. The trip some days took several hours in each direction (holidays and weekends the trip took a half hour).

Steve

(BTW… I live near Frederick. Now I know what the ruckus was.:))
