Sat, Dec 10th 2011. 1200 local, three CH-46E's launch from NAS Norfolk, VA in order to properly bid farewell to a man who has served the Marine Corps and this country for 29 years.

Best part? Once we cross the Wilson bridge, we HAVE to remain 200 feet and below... :D
I've done LLs through DC (and Baltimore), NYC, Philly, and Boston. DC and NYC are the best.

I've done LLs through DC (and Baltimore), NYC, Philly, and Boston. DC and NYC are the best.
I hate to say it - but NYC is pretty boring now, almost routine. We do fleet week every year, plus we did the PMC support for the USS New York commissioning... First time - "DUDE, I landed on the Wall Street Heliport THEN on Coney Island!" Now - "I wish those amateurs would get out of my way, I've got beer to drink." :)

DC was pretty cool, and I was shocked how close you get to the Washington Monument/Lincoln Memorial along the route...
