Aircraft Breakdown

I was wondering if any of you guys knows the USMC corps aircraft breakdown? By this I mean the approximate percentages of rotary-jet-c130. And if any of you guys have been thru training recently....How was the breakdown of available airframes for selection?

I honestly couldn't tell you, but I've heard that it's something like 60% rotary wing 40% everything else. So really, 60% have "seen the light"

Phrog, any idea what the rough breakdown is within rotary wing? (i.e. how many -47, -53, etc, or "who's seen what light") Of course, I'm referring to total numbers, not just who's coming out of training. I see the breakdown of major pipelines on about every tenth thread, but I haven't seen this figure anywhere yet.

I'd say this isn't too far off. The statistics that My OSO gave me when I asked him such a question (what % get jets? ) was 55% rotary, 45% fixed wing. he didn't have numbers to drill down any further than that unfortunately.

So when you really get down to brass tacks - 19.6% Phrogs... I knew I wasn't alone in loving the old girl... It would be interesting to see what the percentage of V-22 guys there are. It's going to turn into the new Phrog. But I'd rather get orders to Okinawa than transition. There's something about a mature woman... :icon_smil

I can safely say that week in and week out the percentage of CH-47s is 0% and projected to continue indefinitely.

Where does the name Phrog come from?

The story goes - When the first CH-46E Sea Knight was delivered to HMX-1 in Quantico, two pilots were on the flight line awaiting it's arrival. When they saw it - one pilot remarked "It looks just like a frog." At least that's what was in Boeing's tandem rotor newsletter a couple of years back. Don't know where the PH came from though. I think it was in the same article, I just don't remember. Either way, call the old girl "Phrog", "BattlePhrog", or just plain sexy and I'll like you...
