This may be a repost, but did anyone else notice the proposed AF dress uniform?

As I recall, the founders of the Air Force took pride in laying their collars down and breaking from the traditional stand up collar... I guess the Navy and Marine Corps were right after all...:icon_tong

We've definitely bashed this uniform before. It does still suck though.

It's like they came so close to producing a real uniform, then got tired of spending the energy and just slapped a thick belt on, a choker, and called it a day.

I dunno, I think it looks pretty sharp. Old-school and military, sort of an Eddie Rickenbacker vibe. Lose the nametag, though - who wears nametags with a full-dress uniform?

Everybody's doing the retro thing these days. Service Dress Khaki, anyone?

SDKs are sharp, everyone I know who's seen them likes them and I'll get me a set, but when the heck do you wear them? Are they replacing the current khakis, or supplementing them?

Re: the AF chokers, didn't the AF have a choker white uniform back in the day? I vaguely recall seeing them once (I grew up near Eglin) but I think it was one of those uniforms that existed but nobody owned, like the old Marine choker whites or Navy aviator greens.

The air force of course.

Didn't you guys know, it's been about 10 years since the last uniform change, therefore the air force is overdue for a new and dress uniform.

I can tell you nobody on the air force side I've worked with wants this monster. Nobody wants to look like Darth Vader's henchmen or to spend a few more hundred dollars on a uniform we'll never wear because of the mandate to wear BDUs/ABUs at homestation to show "we support the war!"

What is even more head scratching is top brass wants to bring this uniform AND a second dress uniform in...

... with the chokers as the "parade uniform". I heard about air force parades back in the Cold War from stories of the senior NCOs I've worked with, but I have yet to see one.

So this is why they want to get the Navy's new carrier's canceled. I knew they had some BS frivolous crap to spend those billions on, other than supporting the war. They should dye those uniforms Army Green, be hazed severely for their fraudulant and idiotic ways, and become the Army Air Force again. Maybe then they could learn what "supporting effort" means, and that air power doesn't win wars, it supports the Ground Combat Element.

Somehow I doubt the AF will spend it's own money on those new threads. In tha Navy, ya gotta buy ya own kicks, after all.

I like the choker blues, but those new service dress ones look like the Salvation Army.

I'm not exactly sure what the occasion for SDK's will be, I looked through everything I could find on TFU, but it didnt give any information on what uniforms it might replace or the conditions under which it would be worn. The current service Khakis arent going away that I know of.

Ok before this goes and gets too out of hand on the whole money issue. The Airforce has fewer Uniforms then either the Navy or Marine Corps so you gotta give them credit for that. Remember the AF dress blues pictured are also the Air Force equivilent to Service dress so its a dual use uniform. Whens the last time the Navy or Marines could say they performed duties in the same uniform they would wear to a dinning out.

General concensus within the Air Force from the folks Ive talked to/read is that the new uniforms are just gay. The fact that they are putting a uniform that sans belt looks almost Identical to the Bus Driver Blues of the 70-80's just seems retarded. Unfortunately there are too many high ups that have made this a big priority.

Why don't you have a seat right over there.
Wow. So when the Air Force wants to look more military, they simply copy the Corps?

I guess thats actually a good way of doing it.
