FYI I turned down my slot one time, correct. That was because my wife was expecting our son while I would have been at OCS. I don't know who wouldn't have done the same thing given my position, even though it was something very hard for me to do. My OSO himself said he would have done the same thing. I want to be a Marine, but not I'm not willing to "give my left leg for a shot at OCS", nor would many of the current Marines I have spoken with. Being a Marine is a tremendous priviledge which I hope to earn someday, and if I don't I can't say it's not because I didn't try, and no, I don't call not going to OCS to miss my son's birth, not trying.
