I was informed via FB that the King Kat was brought back into operation for the most recent Kingsville winging.

People that were there can probably provide more info.

BZ to the guys in Krock who got it back up and running after it got shut down for a while.

Not many photos have shown up on Facebook yet, but here is one of the first cat shot since we reintroduced it.

Burchett, pictures above, deserves most of the praise for getting her up and running again, but myself and Leahey tried to lend a hand as well. It was a great time as I'm sure anyone who attended will attest to.

MB, as I understand it, you are responsible for it being constructed. Nice work.

BZ to that JG for attempting a trap in his whites and landing it.

Was it broken or something that it wasn't in use? Or was Master the only dude who knew it secrets?

I built it, with help from students, and with the approval of the MWR Director, and NASK CO. (amongst others)

Change of command plus new MWR poobahs put it on the sideline for a while, plus some people using it unauthorized broke some stuff. Looks like the current crew has it up and running 4.0.

For the record, that JG "boltered" and is wet. The second wire is the "safety/retract" wire, just to keep you from hitting the far wall of the pool. It will engage the hook whether it is up, down or has been "ramp struck".

hints the head down sense of failure? looks like he's better off than missing on the Flight of the Intruder.

Don't worry, the Fun Police will shut her down again before you know it. You shall not enjoy your job.

Krock was not a bad place to be.

Mostly good Wx, wide open flying, semi-pointy nosed tailhook jets and lots of booze. Minus my run in with NOMI, it was my best tour yet.

The only downside, is you had to travel or develop a preference for BMWs.

(I travelled)

I haven't checked it out yet. As far as TW-2 goes, best flying I've done in my career thus far.....2 X's a day, 3 if I want it. South Texas sucks ass but the flying makes up for it to an extent.

Bunky, you don't have a hair on your ass if you don't ride the Kat the next winging!

(because we know you have none left on your head :icon_smil )
