I remember ADM Gayler from the day he welcomed the NAM POWs home.
He stood with Jere Denton (whose shootdown date was only a few days ago)
and helped bring these gallant warriors back to freedom.

ADM Gayler was CO of USS RANGER (CVA-61) on my first WestPac deployment in 1960. He was a most impressive Naval Officer, and a fine Carrier CO.
RIP Admiral.
