Question - Active duty Marine, want to fly for the Air Force. Can I apply for NROTC while active duty, and (if approved) switch to AFROTC while in school? Thanks for any help

Good luck. When I finished NROTC, you had a better chance of flying as a Naviator...

AF has A METRIC FVCKTON of jobs for Os that involves watching these:

"Why not jusy apply for AFROTC? Save the paperwork hassle..."

If you honestly think a Marine Commander would relieve an enlisted marine from his obligated service to join the USAF, you have a lot to learn about the military

I think you may be surprised as to what people will do when you work hard and let them know what your goals are. Any officer, imo, should be looking out for the good of his people. Have you spoken to your chain of command about your intentions? Everyone knows that staying in the Marines, Air Force, Navy, or Army isn't the choice that everyone is going to make. However, they should still be looking out for you and your intentions so long as you're giving them 100%.

I think what he means is the the Marines aren't going to let him out of his enlistment to go AFROTC, which is why the poster said he'll just get out, and go for an AFROTC scholarship. It's not like applying for STA-21 before your enlistment is up.

I forget what form it is, but there is a dod form to change from one service to another. I looked into the AF and Army programs while trying STA-21 as well. Both the Army and the AF will take other services into their commissioning programs. It's definitely something worth taking a look at. One of the AF programs is almost an exact mirror to the STA-21 program. Worst they can say is no, and you're better prepared for another application process as you already have lor's lined up.

It might be different for commissioning, but I'm just going off of the Insterservice transfers like the Army's Blue to Green program where sailors have to be coming up on their end of obligation and want to switch.
