What the heck kind of flamethrower powder they used for that pic...I have no idea.

Took the Glock 23C to the range today and broke it in with 100 rounds of .40 SW. I purchased this before I deployed to Bahrain and it has sat in the gun safe for 18 months NIB.

I was very surprised at how it did today. Stock compensated barrel with standard sights on the slide. I did add a Hogue rubber grip wrap.

The kick seemed to be even less than my Glock 19. The compensation ports work very well and the pistol has almost no gun flip up. Just sort of a straight back chug into your grip. No noticable gas venting...Saw one spark up through a port one time. Front site did get tiny bit dingy but rubbed right off during a reload with a wet fingertip.

Was very easy to get back on target very quickly. It has my vote of confidence as reliable...not one hiccup through 100 rounds of reload ammo. I'd carry this if I could in this blue state.

Here is a group of ten rounds I fired very quickly at about 35 feet or so.

I used a target that shows each shot very brightly. My group was straight up and down. Didn't pull any shots except the one at 7:30.

I was amazed as I had three rounds literally hit the same hole dead centered again and again. And I'm not that good.

That first pic looks like the Sandman weapons from Logan's Run.

Great range report, and you can't go wrong with a Glock 23. Tried and tested around the country.

Nice Glock. I own a 19 and had the opportunity to try a 19C a while back. I agree; it does a nice job eliminating the muzzle flippiness that the regular Glock has. I was also impressed at the grip of the newer ones; mine has the older, more blocky style, but the new ergonomics are much improved, and that was even without a rubber grip added.

The only complaint I have is that mine has a tendency to have feed issues with JHP ammo. Don't know if your reloads are ball or JHP, but if you want to carry it, that might be an issue. Granted, yours is brand new and mine is a different caliber and old, so maybe it's a non issue. Just a thought.

Great range ... but that first picture shows why I eschew ported pistols.

Train for the "muzzle flip" ... it ain't that bad on any double tap drill with any caliber you're likely to carry. Exhaust gas from "ports" is bad juju in your face in the "real world" without eye/face protection.

I had an early ported Glock 19 ... entered a contest with it, and had soooooooo many malfunctions with it I had to change to a non-ported pistol to finish. No problems from then on ...

Personally, my take on porting is only for things that go BOOM in a big way in an attempt to tame recoil.

Starting on 44MAG and up for me..

But, if it works for you, I'm not gonna Brady Bunch you and say nobody needs one..

Schweet! I have a Glock 27 in .40S&W, it is a sweet shooter. Don't like shooting it without the extended mag., I have big hands.

The only thing I have ported is a .300wby Mag, friggin' LOUD! But it kicks less than a .308 and drops Wapiti.
