They didn't specify but my #1 was MCWO and 2 was IP.

Oh interesting, maybe my recruiting office doesn't have my results either. I really thought it would be released around the same time as active duty applicant results though. It's strange that the timelines are so different.

My recruiter mentioned that he saw the list for the MCWO applicants, your recruiters might want to look into that if your #1 was MCWO.

I think it really depends on the country

What country, how frequent is the contact, and what is the depth of the relationship?

Exchanging "happy birthday" messages on Facebook to your retired uncle in Australia once a year is totally fine. Texting your best friend who's a senior target in the IRGC every day is going to be a problem...

It also depends on the designator, CW is generally the one more concerned with this. Getting a Navy TS clearance is much easier in that regard than getting access to the NSA. I have seen a handful of folks have no issues with their Navy side in regards to their foreign contacts but have endless issues with the NSA, resulting in them never getting access and all of them either resigning their commission or re-designating to a different IWC designator (most commonly going IP, I think that’s just been their preference for other IWC jobs).
