Hey everyone. I'm considering submitting a package for this upcoming board. I really want SNA, but I'm unsure my scores are high enough. My recruiter says I should submit a package, but I would love to get others' input.
My package is as follows:
ASTB 1st attempt:
OAR 47
AQR 5
PFAR 6
FOFAR 6

GPA: 3.5
Major: B.S Aerospace Pro Pilot SEL/MEL
flight time 280hrs, CFII
LOR's 5
Don't self eliminate. Apply. If you're worried about anything, start studying for the ASTB again to retake it but you can study and apply with your current scores synonymously. Also, don't put anything on the job sheet you wouldn't take if you don'tget SNA this time. If you would turn down NFO to apply again, only put SNA. Also, if you're physically inclined enough to do so, don't forget about the Marines. Those are my two cents, other opinions may vary 🤷‍♂️.

You have 3 chances to take the ASTB and can apply before 32 without an age waiver.

I had 49 6/7/7 and was cautious about taking the ASTB again. I didn’t get selected my first board, then I skipped a board and then I got selected my second time applying. If you take it again and do worse, that is your score. No taking the best super score like an ACT.

do not put NFO as a second option when applying to the board if you really want SNA. The board will most likely pass on you for SNA and give you a slot for NFO with your current scores. You may need to bear down and study a little more to try and get 7’s.

Always submit a package though. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”

To clarify a person needs to apply with enough time to graduate OCS by age 32 otherwise they will need a waiver, to be safe a person should apply by age 31 and 6 months.

as im reading through this forum, im kind of confused on what it means if I were to score above 7/7/7. My recruiter said that that is all i need to score to go I-SEL, but if i am going for BDCP, what does that mean for me? Does that mean i do not have to wait for board and instantly start the process of getting into the BDCP program or would that mean that I have to wait until board convenes for them to look over my package still?
