Recommended Action: Enlist as a CTN or AG.

The exact same thing happened to me in last month's SNFO board. It still, to this day, isn't posted on BOL and I found out I was selected from an OR a few days before I heard anything from my chain of command. Yet, I already received my FINSEL letter....

If you don't get selected for Intel check out the enlisted side. Enlisted has no guarantees but if you do really well on the ASVAB you can possible pick an enlisted Intel rate. @Vicky_Marie926 might be able to talk a little bit more about that.

As for the recruiter, perhaps he was new and didn't really know the "unwritten rules" of recruiting.

First of all congratulations, second, did you receive your FINSEL for this SWO board or for something else? Because that seems unbelievably fast.

Thanks! And although the results for SNFO were never posted on my BOL, the results for SWO were posted right away. NFO is my first choice so I already signed my agreement and will be attending OCS July 16th. Guess that means my spot for this SWO board will be available to someone selected as an alternative....

That's tough but a DUI, no matter how long ago, definitely puts a blemish on your application/package. If having the opportunity to serve is truly the ultimate goal, then consider other officer designations or even enlisting.

Is there any designations in particular that I would have a better chance of getting into apologise for all the questions and thank you for the responses

If you're under 27 years old, check out aviation. Otherwise, if you can't get into SWO, you likely won't be able to get into the others who have way lower selection rates.

Unfortunately I'm 28 just tuned in March and it's ironic to think aviation of all choices would be my best opportunity I would think that would have been the least likely but thanks I'll likely look into enlisting and even potentially the Marines if I have an opportunity to be an officer through them
 
Congratulations to everybody who was selected for this board. I was unable to apply due to a hold-up with MEPS, so I will now be applying to the next board.

The Marines are always looking for bodies. Just be forewarned, they won't entertain any paperwork unless you can do 10 pullups on the spot during your initial encounter with their OR's. Reason I know is that I attempted to pursue both simultaneously and they shot me down outright because I busted out 8.
 
Honestly I commend you for your applying to be an officer. With that being said you're giving me a lot of mixed signals . What is that you desire to do more drive a ship serve in the military in any capacity are you interested in being a marine do you know what that really means to be a Marine. You might end up on a ship as a Marine doing nothing but sitting around waiting for chow. Aviation is always good whether a pilot or a maintainer. You really got to sit down and think about the culture and the identity that's associated with each branch. If you go enlisted there are plenty of limited duty officer positions none of which involve being the captain of the ship which is the goal of being a swo. So again you really just have to ask yourself if military is even for you and if the answer is yes whether it be for financial reasons or just a desire to serve then you have to take it to the next step. Let me give you an example there is such a job in the military called the fun boss. The fun boss has either a bachelor's or master's degree in Recreation. They join the ship just as one of the crew and their entire job is to set up recreational activities trips and different events and things like that whether it's for different countries or even while there at home Port. They're totally a civilian but they live somewhat of a military life because they're around them and then they supplement and assist them. Navy civilians that have an educated expertise and a selected field which they've mastered and are able to contribute to the Navy or the Marine Corps or whatever other branch and their own specific way I mean you have people that are weapons designers you have people that are ships Architects you have people that just work for the Navy in a different way and they go on deployments with ships and they have other things. I mean even the military sealift command where you have civilians that work on Supply ships for the Navy and they have a different type of life and they have they live a lot better than your average sailor or even your average JO they have bigger staterooms and have more freedoms.... What career path do you want to go down if it's really to be an officer... Or if it's just to serve. Think about the dedication that goes into what it takes to be a Navy SEAL, and then think about how many of those Navy Seals that are not officers but do it not because they want the money but because they want the prestige in the title and then you know the the balls and maybe it's a pride thing, but don't let your pride thing get in the way of you serving at all so, even if it's as an enlisted. Any amount of serving in uniform should and still a lot of pride in youso you get a lot of the same benefits for being prior military if you just enlist such as the GI Bill and The Prestige of having been in the military there is a false thought that being enlisted is not good. Being enlisted in the military is a very honorable thing and nobody looks down on that. It's actually a very honorable career choice and really will open a lot of doors regardless of what MOS or what R8 you choose or get stuck with. Do your research. g to have the easiest and smoothest ride with the most educational opportunities in the Air Force. I don't know if the DUI situation will interfere with the Air Force but with that all the Marines are probably the least funded. Again it comes down to and identity thing who do you want to be associated with what colors do you want running through your veins and quite possibly poured out for your fellow man. thanks

Being an officer might not be what you're looking for. If it comes down to it you can always try to go chief warrant officer in the army :) go fly some helicopters
