If I understand the process of OCS, you will be telling me what to do on my arrival date of Nov. 9th. Fresh from San Francisco civilian life to OCS, this will be interesting!

What dates did you receive your contracts? I'm told that OCS slots for SNA's are back to Jan 03. (This was told to me by my recruiter, so we all know this has to be taken with a grain of salt)

Have you guys seen or heard of guys get their dates bumped up to sooner dates if they want to go as soon as possible. I would think that recruiters can slip you into sooner dates from guys that can't go, get DQ'd, or for some reason need to change their dates.

I got my orders back in Feb. They say my class will be about 90% prior enlisted, due to the lack of transfer funding this year. Believe me if I knew of a quicker way to start I would have figured it out. Shoot, I am already in Pensacola and they wont move it up. They say it is all about money. So, if all this is true, I assume that a few of those October classes may be heavy on the priors and not guys off the street.

To vball I think I got my orders about the same time you did, I would have really been ticked off if I had to wait that long. Sorry ya gotta wait.

5 Months 5 Days YEEHA!!!

I'll be two classes ahead of you Dave.

I heard of my acceptance the first week of March for a Sept. 14th OCS date. From hearing other people's dates, I think I lucked out!

I'm ready to leave now though, but coming from the Northeast it's probably a good thing that I won't arrive in Pensacola until Sept.

See you in P-Cola!

Schott you are very very lucky. My application ran into some hickups yesterday, so I won't be considered until next Tuesday. But a guy was selected yesterday and his date is in March of 03. So I'll probably be March or April....:(

I just talked to one of the fellas up at NMRC yesterday. He told me there was one heck of a backlog for pilots. That is why all the pilot orders are like into the next year. Since I'm in for NFO there is no prob. He also said there were slots open in the classes leading up to October, but not for pilots or prior service guys (Active duty). But as it stands I dont think I want to go any sooner, cuz it is gonna be one hot summer here in Pcola. Oct will be fine.

Patmack18 and schott,

What did you guys get picked up for? Where ya comin from, and what ya doin to get ready?
I know it seems to be far off, and you know how it goes. Procrastination, at least for me. It will be her b4 we know it.

I've been doin a lot of cardio. I really hate push ups. So, sad to say, I have been slackin on those. I went to see a personal trainer at the gym on base, he started me out on the cardio and said we could move more to lifting later. Said I should have no problem with the physical stuff if I hang with him for the 5 months I have left. But again, its easy to get burned out. He likes 1 and a half to 2 hour workouts. Hard to work those in every day. I glanced over the memorization stuff, but thats about it. I was speakin with a friend that grad'd OCS about 6 months ago. She said no matter how much you prepare, it still sucks. haha

I also got picked up for a pilot slot. I'm coming from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. I started running, but slack off way too much. I'm lucky if I get a run in once or twice a week. I do get to the gym to lift though. I'm not much of a swimmer, so I've been getting in the pool about 3-4 times a week lately.
1 1/2 - 2 hour workout seems pretty long. Be careful not to get burned out! Right now I'm getting in 15-20 minutes of cardio and hit the weights for about 45 minutes. Since getting accepted, I stopped lifting for a lot of weight and started doing more reps.

I have a feeling you're friend is right, it's going to suck no matter what.

Let me know if you have any tips.

Keep in touch.
