111th Contstruction Battalion

My father was with the 111th and was on Omaha Beach on D-Day.
His name Allen A Bourgeois Jr SF2c. He died in 1988 and never really talked about his experiences. My question is; is there anywhere that I can go to find out more information about the 111th and what their mission was on D-Day and after D-Day?
