01JUN26 SNA/SNFO board

All the boards since the September massacre have been cancelled. Lol. This is the first once since that board.
Oof that is crazy I would've assumed that at least one board would've been held since October/September of last year. These upcoming boards are also going to be a mess since I imagine the Navy is doing well with SNA rn but the number of applicants keeps increasing.

I had some hope that actually finishing my master's would improve my chances but I guess not LOL.

If I was betting I would say it would be as difficult. ISEL still get processed they just get slowed down, there were several that were denied ISEL but the reason was due to not being qualified ISEL some have talked about why they were declined here.
Ahhh ok just the wording from my recruiter at the time made it sound that they were also cooked like the regular applicants. But yes I remember hearing some people losing ISEL for other things on their package.

I guess I kinda fall into that category since my ASTB scores are 52 7 9 8. But my undergrad GPA is really bad. However, I completed my masters with a decent gpa. I know that it doesn't make up for the bad undergrad GPA but I hope it helps to a certain extent.

Yeah I was basically asking how competitive recent SNA boards were. But I guess a lot of boards have been cancelled since Sept/Oct of last year.

With I-SEL in play and with CNRC front loading boards and selections up front instead of spreading it out throughout the year, it’s really difficult to tell or develop any sort of prediction.

Being that there IS a board and your recruiter has confirmed you’re “at board”, at least your odds are greater than 0% at the very least.

I think doing civilian pilot training would increase your chances way more then more degrees. If you got your private or instrument rating you'd likely get picked up and if you got your commercial rating you'd get picked up.

Other way around if ASTB score can’t be changed.
I know people with 5's on ASTB get picked up because they had their commercial rating. They say flight time doesn't matter but it definitely does, however they won't use it against you. I think recruiters say that so people with no flight time don't get discouraged. Also, it makes sense. The purpose of the ASTB is to predict how well you'd do in flight school. If you have proven that you finished and passed private, instrument, and commercial, it's the same as earning your wings in the navy. The absolute best way to demonstrate to the navy that you will finish and pass navy flight school. For example, if one were to even get their multi-engine add on, or even CFI/CFII, they'd get picked up one hundred percent, and if they did not, it would not be logical.

I’ve heard both sides of this. Some navy pilots have told me it helps, and then a very credible naval aviator told me it’s absolutely a detractor in an application because civilian flying is much different than military flying and some of the habits learned flying privately are hard to shake during military flight training.

Literally decades of board results show the exact opposite and the number of people that we would see dropped from my district that we sent to flight school who had commercial/CFI/multi-engine would back that up.

so how does this explain the people who score very low on ASTB with flight experience getting picked up? It is completely illogical for this to be the case. If i get my instrument rating, which I am doing now, it will help me tremendously in flight school and I will have a higher NSS score in flight school then others. If you're a CFI, you will excel in flight school versus some frat dude that just graduated college.
