01JUN26 SNA/SNFO board

That’s reassuring I think really my only weak point is my gpa (2.84 in mechanical engineering technology) my ASTB is 54 7/8/7
I don’t have good judgement on boards as a disclaimer because I’m still trying to get it. With that said a 7/8/7 is an I-SEL level ASTB. From what I know, that’s pretty a damn good chance. With your degree, assuming you didn’t cheat, you probably have a more legitimate GPA than a lot of people. I’m a 2.81 in Aviation Management and I made it a point not to cheat for answers. With that said, enjoying college life my first two years paired with athletics didn’t help me lol.

They basically didn’t pick up anyone for the September board lol but yeah I heard how the weed thing affect the final decision can vary by who’s looking at your application. I think it also comes down to whether they can just take someone with the same or better score that didn’t use marijuana though; I was ISEL rolled back to regular board back in September due to experimental weed usage, exactly like another guy but he had 9/9/9 and a 4.0 while I had 8/8/7 3.02 and he got picked up. We both didn’t need any weed waivers since we both used less than ten times. So the scores really did make a difference; I used the time after that board to bump my gpa up to about 3.15. Still, at the end of the day, the most important factor is just the needs of the Navy and how many slots are there to give out lol, so basically luck.
I don’t doubt the luck aspect lmao. I didn’t get any waivers either but disclosed based on my MEPS. Maybe dishonesty does go a long ways doesn’t it hahaha.

My gpa would have been 3.0+ if I didn’t have a horrible first year college experience during Covid. But yeah it’s kinda hard to cheat in engineering when your exams are paper/pencil/calculator only and worth 60% of your grade lol.

The way I see it though, at least if we’re selected we won’t have to worry or lose sleep about people somehow finding out and losing basically everything for the next ten years haha. It’s def one of the main factors they look at for clearances and we may need a Top Secret one later and even if not they renew the Secret one every like five years too. They care a lot because weed usage is a career ending secret that can be easily exploited and you be blackmailed with. But since I disclosed it everywhere to everyone my clearance officer didn’t even bother asking me more than a couple sentences during my initial interview lol

Whats your scores? Adding mine to the November spreadsheet now.
52 7 9 8
I have a masters but my bachelors gpa is bad so that is kinda what has me stressed

when both of the GPAs were averaged with my last recruiter he said that it was around a 2.5 to 2.6 iirc.
