Statistically speaking, there's a decent chance you could end up in South Whiting. Like @Low_GPA_High_AOA said, it's pretty much luck of the draw. That being said, it's much better to be flying a helicopter than not flying

The week I selected, everyone in my squadron got their top choice. I've also seen weeks where literally everyone got rotary bc it's what was needed that week

Everything I would do in pilot training would be to compete for a fighter spot, growler in particular. Top of class gets a wishlist don’t they? My friends in naval aviation were jets or “big wing.” One OCS and one ROTC

This still can happen no matter what your grades are in primary. Like they said there’s also luck involved.
