Yeah, looking back at my squadron it was closer to 30% than 50%, you're right. Similarly, 30-40% from our sister HSM squadron. All but one of those that didn't though all wanted to continue flying and weren't given that opportunity.

I'd hazard a guess ~35-50% of USN helo pilots don't fly past their first tour. Not sure about other communities.

Yeah, I'm with you on that, but what made the first guy in particular such a tool was all the bragging about the studying and trying to show off his work ethic by showing his screenshots of a perfectly flown ILS or break on MS Flight Simulator on facebook.

Some guys from HT/VT make DH or OP-T DH. 0 from the last board in any helicopter community made command after having had any tour in the HT's or VT's. I've known one to exist, a former skipper of mine.
