    Is This For Real?

Step one You can obviously read but I think your problem lies in comprehension, or following directions. I have bold text the part of your statement which most likely answers your question. That bold statement added with your recruiters futile attempts to convey the OCS process to you should...

Age waiver for 29 yr old SNA?

Read this thread. http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143672 Yes the title says NFO, but the info for pilot is in there also if you read the whole thread and look into the instructions. I don't think the waiver thing is gonna happen. Good luck.

FY09 STA-21 Soup to selection and beyond MEGA thread

BOOST really helped me a lot. I attended the last six month class, and some of the credits transfered/counted as pre requisites at my college. Additionally, those of us who attended did really well in the math, writing, and physics courses. Those who did not seemed to have more problems (Two...

    Motivational Statement MEGA Thread

I think the word sailor is a better word choice than ambassador. It is implied that we are ambassadors, but we don't necessarily ever reference our selves as such. it sounds like you want to lead people filling attache billets or something. What do you think makes a "bad" leader?

All those things make a pretty bad leader, but inconsistency can cause a lot of confusion as to what is and is not expected or acceptable in the working environment. I also think it goes hand in hand with does not communicate well. Dishonesty makes a horrible leader.

    GW CO & XO relieved

These were professional Officers that did the best job of leading that they could. I'm sure that there is something on every ship that could bring down the leadership with the right combination of circumstances. The cheese just lined up on the GW. A parts issue did that to a Captain in...

    Motivational Statement MEGA Thread

You went from Naval Aviator to Naval Leader in "hours of reflection." It really doesn't really seem like a long time to make a choice like the one you describe. Maybe a different word choice, or maybe it really only took you a few hours to decide.

My family and I go to the base Chapel. It makes it easy when you PCS and you support the base at the same time. They seem to be downsizing the Chaplains though. The Chaplain here does the service on both bases.

    Naval Sea Cadets

In the past the Sea Cadets came to work with us a few times a year at the squadrons and maintenance depots. They were all very motivated and really impressed me. I never knew about any programs like Sea Cadets growing up. I think it's a good opportunity for kids to get some exposure to the...

The way I understand it is that the current NCF benefits correspond to the amount of GI BILL benefits you have left. http://www.npc.navy.mil/CareerInfo/Education/GIBill/NavyCollegeFundProgam.htm Entitlement to MGIB Program benefits and the NCF kicker are the same. For example, if you are...

That was before they had the kicker, and in conjunction with TA, and FRAG. When I used TA it was like 12 credits a year or something, which equaled 4 non technical classes. At the time if I got out and only used my GI BILL it would not have covered what all 3 of those programs combined on...

    New GI Bill

I don't remember the exact numbers, but for me it worked out better to use it on active duty. A college course at extended campus took less time than a course at the main campus, so the rotation of funds would come around quicker. I can't remember what the yearly cap on TA was, but I could...

I used TA and GI bill to get 3/4 of my degree while enlisted, and then let STA-21 pick up the rest. Most enlisted people I know don't want to use their GI bill on active duty, and if they due they use it in conjunction with TA to sweeten the pot. You get more for your money using it on active...

Status of OC in a ROTC unit/OCS for NROTC Units??

Each individual NROTC unit has an instruction that can be curtailed/lengthened any way the Professor of Naval Science sees fit. So pointing out instructions from the 1420 and from a specific unit don't really mesh well. I think the 1420 is more of a guide prior to NROTC, and ceases once an OC...

When I first got to my ROTC unit I was confused about how the Battalion was organized, and where I fit in. I showed up during the summer and it was a phone muster + don't fail your classes. When the MIDN got back the following semester, I noticed there were a LOT of positions that I thought...
