If you want to know how to do North Carolina Pork Shoulder on a gas grill, let me know. I've got pretty good at it, complete with hickory smoking.

    Iran Seizes British Sailors

What many have failed to see is that Ahmadinejad is a smart man. For one, he's run CIRCLES around us in the diplomatic arena. He's missing some men, and so happen to capture some Brits. Will that make him lose face? Maybe. But if he treats these Brits well, takes care of them, etc... the point...

    Grillin' Like A Villain!

I recommend the book "How to Grill" by Stephen Raichlen The Weber cookbooks are also a great place to look. http://www.weber.com for recipes I'm a firm believer in the Weber method of grilling. Read about it on the site. It works. It's superior.

That's because that kind of discussion is War Zone material. The Advanced Jets forum, as you used as an example, is for training in Advanced Jets, not setting up play dates.

    C vs. E/F

Are you asking if they've FLE'd the Rhino? Nope, nothing prohibiting us from pulling the 7.5G's if we want em.

Considering the number of subs they had, probably a necessary option!

    C vs. E/F

Haha, we still do it manually when we sign for the book, that way we can cross-reference it to make sure the jet is correct. Usually works pretty close. The electric jet man, nothing like letting Hal drive. Oh, you CAN still over-G the jet, and you can also over-ride the G-limiter in dire...

Not the best week for Subs...

The stories some of the old A-4/A-7/A-6 drivers here would tell us about training for SIOP situations were unreal. They were all convinced they were going to die if it happened, and some of the stuff they trained to were just crazy.
  12. Fly Navy

    C vs. E/F

Yeah, it inventories the systems on the jet, etc and knows how much it weighs. Pretty cool. It's not super accurate, but will definitely get you close. Trick is, it won't inventory some systems until they're turned on... for example, if the EW suite isn't turned on, it doesn't tally their weight.

    Well said
  14. Fly Navy

    C vs. E/F

Yeah, the FCS won't allow it to pull 7.5Gs at that weight. It automatically G-limits the aircraft based on weight.

Not sure I'd want to be TACAMO and have that on my shoulders... hell I still wouldn't want that on my shoulders. You complete your mission, the world just ended... But, talk about being a huge part of the puzzle... hell, a vital part of the nuclear triad.

    NROTC 5 years?

Haha there is always the progression isn't there? Ours was EE/ECE to CS to IT... I was wierd, I went the other direction from CS to EE (I was more straight EE than ECE, though I do have a background in ECE/CS). Funny thing is, I forget most of that stuff.

  38. Fly Navy

    NROTC 5 years?

Absolutely. I'm not sure why this is so mind-blowing. I've seen a few other posts related to this, and frankly I'm surprised by it. I went to an engineering school, I studied EE. I was the only EE in my ROTC class, the other engineering types were MechE and AeroE, for the most part. Everyone...

    Aviation/Aero Eng ??

Like UINavy said, this is great advice. The difficulties of an engineering major, provided you want to do it, is great experience. The stress load and time management are skills that will directly relate to flight school in general.
  40. Fly Navy

    Aviation/Aero Eng ??

That's false. I saw plenty of AE types graduate in 4 years in my ROTC years.
  41. Fly Navy

    NROTC 5 years?

Some schools are doing 5 year programs for various reasons. Northeastern University does that for engineering and technical majors, for example. There is a lot of material to study in the engineering disciplines and more keeps being added. Now... 5 years for a history major? No excuse.
  42. Fly Navy

    NROTC 5 years?

I studied EE after switching over from CS. I did it in 4 years, so does nearly everyone else. Maybe AF guys are weak ;)
  43. Fly Navy

    NROTC 5 years?

You can stay in ROTC for 5 years. Whether they will cover you or not is another question I can't answer. Why 5 years? Are you starting over? An Aero Degree is easily attained in 4 years.

    C vs. E/F

We were certainly carrying HARM in Fallon. We didn't shoot any off, but I would assume if we can carry them, we can shoot them... otherwise they wouldn't be on the jet.

Thank you, thank you Brett. That was painful, you beat me to it. I wonder if Iran blaming this on us is them trying to save face for defection, or if we are actually involved... or maybe even Israel.

Hillary Clinton compared to 1984's Big Brother: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,259591,00.html Amusing. I wonder if it indeed came out of a campaign or political office, or just an individual? BTW, I saw a National Geographic special on North Korea last week... that place IS 1984.
