    Super Hornet in Pensacola

The idea is you don't want a computer in between you and immediate breaking action. Since the anti-skid computer can fail (and it does a lot in the Rhino, not sure about you guys), you really don't want to deal with that on the deck of the boat.
  2. Fly Navy

    Super Hornet in Pensacola

Yeah, just illustrating that each aircraft is different. I believe the Tomcat kicked off NWS at 100 knots on the takeoff roll.

    The reality of air combat

This thread is open to way too much Opsec. That video shouldn't even be on the internet to begin with. We're done here. Open a new thread to talk about Jewish/Arab relations.

    The reality of air combat

I'm not sure this video is supposed to be on the internet, then again... what ISN'T on the internet.
  5. Fly Navy

    Super Hornet in Pensacola

We use NWS for the entire takeoff roll. You mean on. No way you're turning a Rhino tighter without NWS than on high-gain NWS.
  6. Fly Navy

    Super Hornet in Pensacola

That's wierd. Have to do with your screwy tandem gear or something? NWS will work with anti-skid off or on. Nose tire speed on the Rhino is 195.

    AR-15 Build

I want a pencil barrel M-16 style with 3-prong flash suppressor. Not M-16A1 or M-16A2. M-16, initial issue Vietnam era. They don't make em anymore :( I think the Colt SP1 was it.

Everyone point and laugh at the U.K.

The Brits are COMPLETE pansies when it comes to firearms. You want to see the negative effects of gun control, look no further than Britain. I want to know why finding ammunition is newsworthy. Ridiculous.

As I have in the past, I will also endorse the C&R license. I have one. He's not lying, it's the most expensive $30 you'll ever spend :)

    Iran spying on our carriers?

How about the Russians overflying our carrier a few years ago and then e-mailing the photos to the ship's skipper.

    Borat Anyone?

Read what you sign. It doesn't matter what someone tells you, read what you sign.

My new (old) piece of history

Those bayonets were very common of that era and pretty effective. It does look as though it could be used as a screw driver though, never thought of that :)

    Rumsfeld to step down

One reason why every aspect of war doesn't need to be televised. That was pure overwhelming force, destroying the Iraqi will to fight piecemeal. Wars don't end with "enough" force, they end with dominating force. Unfortunately the public can't handle this. It's ugly.
  19. Fly Navy

    Borat Anyone?

Anyone who saw the movie will realize that those college students were nothing but red-neck trash who said some sh!t you should never say on camera. They knew they were being recorded, it wasn't a hidden camera. They have no case.

Almost exactly the same as mine except I have a standard stock not a pistol grip. Felt-recoil on pistol grips tend to be higher, let me know how it works out. Great choice :)

Yep, Mossberg is another good choice. Not as well made as Remington, but still quality and combat tested. While the Interceptor with SAPI plates was designed to stop rifle bullets... it's still not smart to willingly get shot.

    Rumsfeld to step down

A couple points: - I never argued anything about coalitions. I just mentioned that Desert Storm was defining as crushing the enemy with overwhleming force. Your point about coalitions doesn't have anything to do with this. - Our mission was never to overthrow the Iraqi government, it was...
  28. Fly Navy

    calling shotgun

Wow. Yeah, he was asking for a fatal accident. Makes me think of stories you hear from Desert Storm and whatnot of soldiers being bored and seeing if their flak jackets actually work... too bad they weren't designed to stop 9mm, or better yet... 5.56mm.
  29. Fly Navy

    calling shotgun

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The term "knock down power" is a gun magazine/Hollywood term. It just doesn't exist. It's kind of like "Assault Weapons". Bullets don't knock people over, not bullets fired from normal guns anyway. It's more of a semantic argument, I know, but I hate the Hollywood...

  31. Fly Navy

    calling shotgun

The old myth of "you don't have to aim a shotgun" is just that, a myth. I just didn't want to get down that road, since even at 20 ft, the spread is very little. But you're right, a shotgun works great :)
  32. Fly Navy

    calling shotgun

A common myth. At most home defense ranges, even with a cylinder bore, the pellet grouping is still tight. You don't get this huge spray like you see in DOOM.

  35. Fly Navy

    Rumsfeld to step down

We fought the war on the cheap. That was the Rumsfield strategy. Overwhelming force was Desert Storm. We literally crushed the Iraqi military into dust. Also, saying "we just nuked Japan" is over-simplification. Plans were in motion to invade Japan. It would have been bad.

There are many variants too. Short barrel, long barrel, wood, synthetic, magnum. It goes on. They have lots of modifications available to them as well. I have a 18" synthetic stock version, cylinder bore. It's designed for home defense... and works GREAT at shooting skeet too. I want a long...

    Is the Navy accepting mediocrity?

Yes, and there are tactics for that. But that's not air supremecy. We also have AEGIS ships, etc etc etc.
