You'll get no argument from me that we're worthless in that department.

    Imminent Fury/A-29 Pics

To be fair if it's an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance platform then P-3 guys have plenty of training on the mission:) The weapons stuff...maybe not so much.

Orion Obsession; giving it up for the mighty P-3C

I haven't really gotten much opportunity in Brunswick or Jax to work on this skill. Is there a particular technique that works well or just luck? I don't want to mess it up if the chance presents itself

Better to own or rent in Jacksonville, given current economy?

Great advice. I lived close to base in -30 and hated Jax. Now that I'm back, damn BRAC:icon_rage, I live at the beach and its much better. Drive is 30 minutes and the only time I hit traffic is leaving work getting from the gate to 295.

    t-34/t-6 noise pollution

I wonder if I generated any noise complaints the other night after multiple approaches into there with the four fans of freedom spinning:) Tomorrow's mission, see how many SEC stadiums we can flyover in one 5 hour DFW.

    Which watch?

Herc, thanks for the suggestions. I really like the Glashutte but its a little more than I want to spend. Went with a Stowa. Unfortunately it won't arrive for a couple months. Going to have to work hard not to pick something else up while I'm waiting.

    Which watch?

Already have a Breitling Chrono Superocean very similar to that. Really looking for something simpler like the Sinn or maybe http://www.glycine-watch.ch/e/collection/detail.e.jsp?ID_Group=100003&ID_Display=100008 or...

    Which watch?

Assuming it ever gets here I'll have an Omega X-33 for daily wear but I'd like to get something a little more classy to wear other times. I'm thinking something like a Sinn 656, simple no chronograph, leather strap, etc. http://www.watchbuys.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=302 Anyone...

The Great, Constantly Changing Picture Gallery

To be fair, they do come to VP deployment sites too. But we prefer to go out drinking with them after their show rather than getting autographs. Technique only.

    E-6 Advanced moving to Corpus?

Very possible, guy in my squadron had T-1 orders and very recently got modded to T-6 orders. He was told it was because the Navy was pulling out of T-1's.

    No More Piddle Packs?!

I've flown with chicks that can get in the P-3 head and get done faster than me. Don't ask me how they do it, I don't know, and I don't want to know. All I know is just don't grab the coke bottle cut in half tucked in the corner of the head.

    Whiting Field set COR IV

I'm sure not everyone is gone but there's definitely a lot more P-3's on the line here in Brunswick than normal.

The Great, Constantly Changing Picture Gallery

Usually each squadron only gets to paint up one plane and even then its not much.

Stupid questions about Naval Aviation (Pt 2)

I've heard they've gotten more efficient about when you find out squadrons/home port(I didn't find out till 4 weeks before I left) but I did average about 3 days of golf a week during the RAG. Good times:D

    P-3's to E2/C2

You should come to Brunswick, there's plenty of RV and lots of visuals when its nice. Of course when its not nice its often PAR's to mins, but that's fun too.

Time to train (civilians flying military jets and Harriers vs conventional aircraft)

Uh, no, you're completely wrong. There are other ways to get briefs and file. If you make it out of primary you may learn them.
  19. heynowlookout

    P-3 JO Retention

Not really, it's Combined Maintenance Organization meaning each wing has its own maintenance command rather than maintainers being assigned to each squadron. Still plenty of seaman working on the planes they just don't report to the squardon CO when they give you a shit airplane and there are no...

    Custom Watches

If it helps here some examples of the kind of thing they can do. http://donindiano.lanetcie.com/watches/breitling/b-1/special_editions I'd be in if a group were put together and I know 2-3 of my buddies who would be as well. Or if anyone wants to do Omega x-33's with pilot wings on the...

    Interesting IAP's...

Flew that one numerous times as well. Had an older sim instructor tell me he designed that approach back when he was an IP because the tacan at NGP was down all the time and they wanted an approach to use as a backup so they wouldn't have to cancel in bad weather. At least thats what he told me.

Florida vs Texas for tax benefits

I changed to Texas and then to Florida during training. Did the first change for tax free, the second one because I was going to be in FL for a few years(minuse a year or so in Maine) and I figured I might as well use FL. As others have said the tax laws are pretty much the same but when I...

    Brunswick Maine/VP-10

If you're single live in Portland. It's a half hour drive to work but its worth it. Apartment hunting there is a pain in the ass. There are only a few buildings/complexes, most places are single houses split into apartments. Craigslist is good but you have to see places in person because...

When do you take the PRT?

Supposed to be twice a year I think but I only took one during primary and advanced combined because I arrived right after the squadron took one and left just before the next. The rag was the first time I had the option for the swim.

    Place to live in Corpus

Just to continue the discussion 1. True, can't argue with you there. 2. Kind of true. Once you get the gear and flaps up the T-44 will climb eventually, still better than a P-3 two engined. 3. I'll take your word for it there since instructors have changed since I've been there. 4...

    Place to live in Corpus

These were my thoughts from several months ago http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?p=285514#post285514 I haven't been there for 8 months so if there is a difference do enlighten us with specifics, more than just "VT-35 is better because that's where I went".

    Place to live in Corpus

Why are -35 guys so obsessed with singing the praises of it? I ask because I was in -31 and enjoyed it. We had douche bag instructors but having gone through the rag with plenty of -35 guys, so did they. What precisely makes -35 better or what makes -31 worse?

    Corpus or Whiting????

I've done both, Whiting for primary, advanced in Corpus, I agree with all of the above, except the Vance thing, avoid that shit like the plague. Milton is a small town with nothing to do and Pensacola is full of rednecks. Corpus is north Mexico but it does have better nightlife. I personally...

New Car For A New Officer?

My dad made a comment to me when he came down a while back about the state of ensign-mobiles. He was surprised at all the students with SUV's and pickups, myself included. I'll be the first to admit my 4runner just isn't as exciting as his '67 Camaro and '69 GTO, but I'll die before I drive a...

VT-35, getting on the big board?

Your instrument scan gauges are all the same from plane to plane. Its the radios, navaids, and comm panels that are all different types and locations. Really only a pain on preflight when you're trying to figure out what type of Tacan/VOR you have and how it tests, etc.

Anyone interested in getting an X-33? Myself a couple other guys are trying but didn't get enough interest to get the group buy. 1 week notice for OCS

Of course. Sometimes I like to leave the big smiley faces out of my sarcastic comments:D
  48. heynowlookout

    1 week notice for OCS

Negative, if you fail any event you get 2 or 3 weeks, depending on when the next class starts, in H-class under the direct supervision of the Master Gunnery Sergeant. After he whoops your ass into shape, you join the next class. Its a great deal if you want to lengthen your OCS experience.

Transferring from one pipeline to another

I stand corrected by those with greater experience, apparently anything is possible if the planets are in the proper alignment and a butterfly flaps its wings in Asia:D I should have said I haven't heard of it happening in the last year during the time I've been in maritime advanced/RAG.
  50. heynowlookout

Transferring from one pipeline to another

So what you're asking is if you're a rock star in P-3 advanced can you change to E2/C2. I've never heard of it. I think your only option is going the Masterbates route a few years down the road.
