    SNA's service obligation?

That's after wings and you'll be required to be affiliated with the IRR for two years after/if you get out. The IRR requires nothing of you except that you be available if needed which I don't believe has ever occurred. IRR - Inactive Ready Reserves.

    BDCP

BDCP - You are only looked at for the jobs you apply for. OCS is completed after you graduate college, then you cross the street to begin API. SWO's can redesignate by applying for a transition board that is held each year. I believe you can apply after you are warfare qualified. BUPERs posts...

    SNA's service obligation?

Ouch, please stop beating on the jet fags and focus your attention on the Academy fags as their student time counts towards retirement.

The audacity of the Navy, can you believe it? Do you know there are maintance personnel in the civilian sector who clean toilets for a living, it's true, without having an officer who is required to give them time off to complete online college courses. And to think they make you file paperwork...

    Flight Computer

CR3 is an E6B, but it's round and used for highspeed flight. TLAR (That Looks About Right) is the preferred method, and a standard goverment issue pen for distance measuring. An FMS is a much better guesser though. But you'll soon learn the newest dance called the WAG to be as effective a the TLAR.

    NFO vs. Aviator

Here's a little comparison why you should begin your flying career with the NAvy and stay Navy for all the pilot's and NFO's out there. Civilian Route Military Flight School Costs: 25K Approx. 0 K Exact Year 1 Flight...

    NFO vs. Aviator

United won't be calling any pilot's anytime soon either, they're in bankrupcy with all the other major airlines.

    BDCP

Yes, you will be guaranteed whatever you are selected for. This means you'll go to OCS and then you'll go to the respective school. As long as you don't fail, you'll enjoy a career doing something you enjoy. On the other hand, if your unfortunate enough to fail, two things may happen 1. you'll...

No OCS help from the recruiter

I'm at home so I don't have a copy of what CNRC published as the current competative stats, but I did however post it on another thread. I'll try to be as accurate as possible - GPA 3.4 or higher SO MY ADVICE IS APPLY, APPLY, APPLY. OAR 54 or higher SO SIMPLY RETAKE THE EXAM. PIFAR - here I'm...

    Tattoo

No prob. As long as it's not offensive such as, sexual innuendo's, racial, etc. The Navy wouldn't have many Officer's if it banned tattoo's. Your upper arm is fine also. But please no cartoon characters!

    Military Pride Jewlery

I received a statue of a aviator in a flightsuit which stands about 18 inches high. It was bought at a card store for about 70 bucks. If you have money falling out of your pockets, one of those wooden plane desk models wouldn't be half bad at all, or a trip to Jamaica.

If your majoring in Aviation Science I'm supposing that you want to be a hmmm., Pilot. NROTC isn't a bad thing, but like blackjack you may get a winner or you may not. If you'll be happy as an Intel, Crypto, SWO, or any other officer then NROTC is a good bet. If you'll gouge your eyes out if you...

I'd totally disagree. DI's understand that priors have been through the bull before and cut them some slack. Most become class presidents, even those who are as dump as mud. Nuc's appeared to have the easiest time, I would speculate because they're so hard to get in the Navy. We had three Nuc's...

    what should I do if....?

I'm somewhat confused by your comment of having applied three times in one month. Does this mean your have applied and been turned down three times? Unfortunately, any advise given to you by another would be at best misguided. Although, since you asked, I would advise you to shop around, i.e...

Is The Civil Air Patrol still worth it?

When I was an Ensign I walked passed a Major in the CAP without saluting. He stopped me in front of his little Hitler youths' and began to berrade me. He described in detail his stature as a member of the Air Force Auxillary and even had the audacity to compare his formal training with members...

What to wear to the OCS Graduation Ceremony

Parents, dress casual. Hawaian shirts and tennies are fine. The order of the day for Navy OCS is that first your son or daughter with pass and review on the parade grounds, so you will be walking in the grass, just like a Officer and a Gentleman. Then, he/she will be commisioned in the base...

For future reference - always keep 5 bucks in NFCU, their house loans are great. They never sell your loan to another fly by night finance group. Homeowners insurance with USAA can be tricky - if you've made a claim on a homeowners policy and try to switch to them in the next year - fa get...

    New wife in the navy-inprocessing?

Checking into a new command is as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. (1. Report to student control and get a command checkin' sheet. 2. Meet and greet session with the C.O. and X.O. (and remember the open door policy is to be used any time your husband needs a good ass chewing.) 3. register your car with pass...

    Recent Final Selects for SNA?

The Navy is accepting 15 superstars into the pilot community each month. Superstar means a graduating GPA in the high 3's, a 54 OAR, and 6-7 on the flight apptitude portion. Body fat has been a huge issue at OCS lately and continues to scar the integrity of recruiters and candidates image alike...

    BCDP and Embry riddle

BDCP pays eighteen hundred a month / 2100 a month if you get on Dean's List 2X. Why are you transferring? Most guys will tell you that a degree outside aviation is benneficial in case of the remote possibilty that something stalls your plans at becoming a pilot. Honestly, this rarely happens...

BDCP = Guarteented PILOT SLOT As an aside, TOP GUN rules. Secretly every pilot and NFO owns a copy, but will never publically admit it. Hell, I got a paper route at age 13 after seeing that to save for flying lessons in a Traumahawk.

    What is OCS really like?

Know the big four - Code of Conduct, Orders of a Sentry, the other two I can't even remember. It's posted on the Navy's OCS website. Other than that - thirteen classes of pump and dump, make your bed, run a mile and a half, and eat constantly. Oh yeah, and visit Seville's.

TOO MANY PILOTS IN THE NAVY?
