    DOR and Medical Drop Consequences?

I'm just curious, what happens to those who do try to hide a medical problem? Do they get hit with the UCMJ? Do they force them into other communities?

    college programmer

Everything should be free. Edit: You might have to cough up a few bucks for unit activities but it's no more than a few hundred a year.

    Centrifuge (sp?)

I've heard of AF guys flunking out...I think for them, different airframes have different G reqs(9 for -16s, and so on down).

    college programmer

Lol, yeah, I was just throwing out a conservative estimate...I can't see them turning down a 1300. But for Navy Options, aren't there a couple of scholarships every year that the CO of the unit is authorized to give out at his own discretion? I'm at a really small unit compared to the...

    college programmer

College program spots, as far as I know, AREN'T competitive. You walk in, have SAT scores that are good enough(1300+ would be my guess) then say you want in. There's practically no competition for them whatsoever. I mean, you're not even going to get reimbursed in any way. It just sets you up...

    college programmer

I'm a college programmer, and I basically just walked in the door, gave em a few proofs of ID(birth certificate, SAT scores, etc.) and then got issued a whole CRAPLOAD of gear. There's no application, but there are a few really really easy forms. I'm not sure you even need to contact them...

    Jets: USMC or Navy?

The 3 mile run alone killed the stupid bug in my brain that made me even consider switching to Marine. That and the whole no shower thing during training. How barbaric. ;)

    Eurofighter

This is really a stupid "what if" question, but I'm gonna throw it anyway. What if...the RAF/USN had collaborated on the Eurofighter project instead of the other nations. Of course, then you'd probably have to call it he Anglofighter. I was just thinking...the requirements, other than...

    NROTC SNA stats

Is there a min. bottomline GPA? What if you go to a difficult school as an engineering major and get about a 3.0, give or take .2? On another thread people mentioned needing a 3.5 to be competitive, which is one reason I'm considering switching out of ENGR.

Our Lovable Wacky Korean Dictator's LiveJournal

My personal faves are the Saddam vs. KJI ones... License2KimJongill: "Let's see, what should I do in my massive unscathed-by-American bombs headquarters" MisterPotamia: "Stop it. I'm not going to cry. I'm not going to let you see me cry."

I vaguely recall considerations towards using the V-22 to fulfill the CSA requirements...as impossible as that sounds(how the hell do you fit a radome on a tiltrotor?).

    Sats

I got a max math by being careful more than anything else. I TRIPLE checked that portion of the time. Unless you still have trouble with trigonometry as a HS junior, there's no good reason you shouldn't top 700 in math. And after you do, if you look closely at your mistakes, you'll find that...

    F22's

On that...it's not that I don't think we'd let it slide, it's that is undermines our ability to deal with multiple crises at once. If they have the ability to take down a CVN, I think that deploying a CVBG to that kind of region stops being power projection, and becomes more of a tripwire force...

    NROTC 4-yr. Scholarship Question

Jeez. Personally, I think if you can't cut your cred load for engineering down to no more than 5 classes a semester(including nav.sci) you might as well drop engineering. It's just not worth the mental anguish you will suffer. Chem and CS are just the classes you really really want to...

    F22's

There's also the fact that the FSU is constantly upgrading its Archers... As far as I can tell, your point is that they have many many gomers...while we've downsized, and that regardless of the arena, when there are thousands of gomers, you really just don't have the ammo to deal with them...

    NROTC 4-yr. Scholarship Question

If you want to do engineering, I can't recomend AP creds enough. Right now, I'm regretting not taking AP CS...that class is gonna burn my eyeballs to a crisp. Chem's usually another good one to knock off the list.

    Sats

After the obvious things, your score should be around 700ish math, 600+ verbal. Odds are your verbal score is getting killed by reading comp. Take the 10 real SATs, grind your way through every single one, then really really focus on the reading comp. When you're done, try to figure out WHY the...

    F22's

Right, but if it's stealthy enough that a Russian bird can't get a lock on, it's inferior performance almost doesn't matter in BVR combat. It should be more agile than the Super Hornet too, so it's dogfighting abilities should be pretty decent too, right?
  24. V

    F22's

The thing with the -22 is you kinda wonder exactly how many squadrons we really need. If it performs as advertised, it should be literally invincible in A2A warfare. So if it's invincible, just exactly how many of them do you need? But I think we do need SOME of them. The closest i've...

    Marines/A-10 Friendly Fire Incident

Pensador, I think it all has someting to do with the whole unified command thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this also happened back in Desert Storm One. One of the things the AF(or at least Horner) took with him from Vietnam is the belief that dividing up an operating area into Navy air...

    AW Linked Virus

Well I've listed my commercial email address as my email on this site and got a few through there. I also got a few through my school email; this could be from other NROTC mids or people I've sent things in the past, not necessarily AW. I think the problem is if you've already had...

    AW Linked Virus

I've gotten quite a few emails from total strangers today, most carrying some sort of military identifier, and one civilian address I've DEFINITELY seen on AW as someone's username. NROTC Weapons Training

In my unit, the only thing we 4Cs did with our M1s was drill. For that we didn't need to know how to assemble, etc. Pistol team probably varies from school to school esp as size varies, but at my unit, which is small, the pistol team is more like an instructional course than a competing team...

    Opinions on Kerry

Somebody asked why in the military it's perceived as "bad" to be voting Democrat. Here's my interpretation: Recent military record for Dem presidents: Carter-screws the pooch at Desert One. However, arguably it wasn't really his fault, we were just too screwed up back then. LBJ-Slaps...

    Texas A&M or The Citadel??

    Too Late to Join NROTC?

OK something's not clicking for me here. From what I've heard from my unit, in order for me to get a commission through either ROTC or ROTC's College Program, I need to be "qualified" prior to getting into either Advanced Standing for the College Program or to get a scholarship. Now I'm...

    SATs

I'll recommend ONE book: 10 Real SATs by the College Board. With that alone and studying over the summer I got a ridiculous score(in a VERY good sense-let's just say I didn't have to "steal" it). It really helps for reading comp. section which is the IMO the most...fudgy(least concrete) section...

    Advice from Parents

    Marines semper FI society

If you're in Semper Fi, you should already be in ROTC to the best of my knowledge...meaning you are already getting a Navy or Marine Corps commission. If you are a Navy op wanting to switch to Marines, it would probably help to attend Semper Fi.
