    M 16 and M4 Civilian Variants

Might be a stupid question, but what the hell: I noticed the Spike lowers have a selection for fully auto. Does this have any Class III implications? I understand that it is the sear on the M4 that makes the weapon fully auto, but I find it suprising that the lower has a selection for it...

    Housing with Follow On Orders

My wife and I lived in the pines during Advanced. It was awesome for us to live around other families in the same situation. Made a ton of great friends there and had some great times. It'll be a hike to Pcola, but it's worth it to be close to Whiting for Primary/Advanced.

    Acute Sinusitis ?

I used Singulair during a particular rough allergy season, thought the stuff worked wonders. I was off of it before I had my NAMI physical, they knew I had used it in the past and didn't say anything either way. They just don't like decongestants.

    Getting married POST OCS

I actually got married during API...but it was on our Christmas break. Picking a weekend this far in advance is really tough, especially since you haven't even done OCS yet. The only reason we chose to get married at that particular time was because Training Commands typically have around a...

    Pass/Fail Lesson On Density Altitude

You are very power limited at high altitude. Yes, the air is much thinner....less to run the engines and less for the rotor to grab on to. For example, on a given day at sea level I can expect my engines to provide ~116, on a hot day in Fallon said engine may provide me with less than...

    Pass/Fail Lesson On Density Altitude

Amen. The hot days in Fallon have definitely driven that point home. You really have to be careful with a loaded down Hotel, helos obvioulsy don't like high DA/PA.

    Shooting Locations in Pcola

I don't think thats going to happen. I'd recommend the Escambia River Muzzle Loader's range out on Quintette Rd up in Cantonement. You can buy the membership at Jay's Guns or Gateswood (think that's on 29). It is a worthwhile membership, especially compared to Santa Rosa Sporting Clays. At...

I just bought an MN this week from www.jgsales.com Definitely happy with the purchase. The base price on their hex reciever Mosin Nagants is $80, you can pay an extra fee to get a "hand select". I went this route and was thoroughly impressed. All my serial numbers match. The wood...

    Acute Sinusitis ?

Did you read the second half of my post? I specifically said you can't have a decongestant and fly. I mentioned Alegra D as an example, Claritin D would also fall into the same category. Straight up Claritin is fine, which is what I posted in the first place.
  20. NozeMan

    Acute Sinusitis ?

If you have allergies, you can use Claritin and Flonase with no waivers or anything. They prescribe the allergy stuff all the time, it's not an issue as long as it doesnt contain a decongestant like AlegraD.

    Gun Show Weirdness

If you are looking for pistol caliber ammo....buy online. It isn't worth the entry fee to go there and pick up ammo. They had some wolf 9mm for $13/50....that was the best "deal" I saw in 9mm. There was plenty of surplus ammo for sale, though. Lot's of 7,62x54R, 8mm etc there.

    Gun Show Weirdness

I hit up a gun show in Jax today... The selection on firearms was pretty descent. If you take into account the markups since last year, the prices werent that bad. The ammo choice was terrible, though. Guys were selled 50 rd boxes of WWB 9mm for $20, it was pathetic. If your are in...

    Sidearms for Naval Aviators

If trigger is the most important factor in the equation, the Sig wins hands down....and that includes putting the XD and the M&P arguement. If weight is a factor as well, you could use the Sig Pro which has a polymer frame but functions like the classic Sigs. The trigger, SA and DA is far...

I wish Sig would do a magazine deal....they are freakin' expensive! Methinks Sig has no trouble selling their products, though.

    Got Sig?

I was just perusing Sig's site and found this: http://www.sigsauer.com/MilitaryFedGov/IndividualOfficers.aspx Looks like you can get a $100 rebate on the classic Sigs. I'll get a $50 on the 2022.

    Got Sig?

When I started my new gun search the SP2022 wasn't even on the radar. I picked it up on a whim and wound up liking it a ton. I was really impressed by the trigger, both DA and SA. The night sights are a sweet bonus as well. Unfortunately they arent 450 out the door in this day and age!

My Latest Purchase (or just pictures of your current guns)

I was looking into getting an M&P today as well. The 2 free mag deal was REALLY enticing, but I ended up going back to Sig. The M&P's ergonomics are fantastic, but I liked the sweet SA trigger of the SP2022 more!

    Got Sig?

A buddy of mine has one and I put a few rounds through it (.380). It's an aluminum frame, and isn't exactly tiny like a Kel Tec. It handles the round pretty well, recoil was comfortable.

    Got Sig?

Yeah, I always thought Jays had terrible prices on their stuff. I do have some friends that got good deals on their guns by saying "well, Academy is selling them for X ammount". Just go to Academy sports up on Olive road and buy there. They may be a chain store, but they are really nice and...

    Got Sig?

When I still lived in Pcola the dudes at Jays said you could get a military deal on them. Granted this was a year ago, but it's worth asking. They would also give you some type of military deal on Glocks as well.

    Surplus Rifle Discussion

I figured I'd get this kind of response about the Mauser. I've seen mostly Yugo 24/47 Mausers out there (8mm). I did find one site (AIM Surplus) that had a Czech Mauser that was about twice the price. Are Czechs better made? When I hear Czech, I think CZ which I know is high quality. It...

    Surplus Rifle Discussion

All, I've been thinking about getting a surplus rifle to keep my M1 Carbine some company. I've looked into Mosin Nagants before and for the price you really can't go wrong. Can't argue with a $80 rifle! I've also noticed some Yugo and a few Czech Mausers out there starting at ~$140 on up...

    .357 kick?

If you are worried about recoil, I'd advice against an S&W Airweight, especially if it is just for the house. Get a full size revolver if you plan to shoot .357, not the light frame. Shooting .357 from a light frame snubbie is painful.

This is definitely looking like a "mileage might vary" type situation. Thats great that some of you were getting paid right away. I never visited a PSD until I went down to Pcola for API, never even knew what it was. Anyone else have any experience with TRICARE not kicking in right away? I...
